Wireless networking hotfix in Parallels Workstation 2.1 for Mac OS X Beta6

Thanks for the new Beta 6.

For me, switching to full screen still does not switch the resolution to maximum native.

As per some of the posts on the Beta 5 thread yesterday, this option doesn't seem to work for some people.

Any ideas why...?

I had to tell my video card in XP to display all sizes and then I saw 1440x900 as an option. Then I had to go into Parallels prefs on the mac side and un-check "Change Mac OSX resolution" under user-interface.

as I understand this option... it lets you display your guest OS (Windows XP in my case) in a console window that is of a fully viewable size on OS X... e.g. 1024x768 (i.e. none of the console window is 'off the screen' so to speak). Then when switching to full screen mode, Parallels automatically changes the guest OS resoltuion 'on the fly' to the required max resolution capable under the native OS. e.g. on my MacBook Pro that is 1440x900 or whatever it is.

So Parallels should automatically switch between these two resolutions depending on whether i'm in console view or full screen view. I assume that checking the 'change OS X resolution' box selects this option to be active.

However, the above does not seem to work for me.

Any ideas...?

I started using Parallels Beta 3. I skipped Beta 5 because I was out of the country the last week, so I jumped from Beta 4 to 6 (you guys are really fast!). Now I have a happy and (so far) stable XP SP2 running on an iMac 1.8 Ghz with 1 GB RAM.
Everything works perfect. Even my Z-Wave USB adapter controlled by Home Seer, a must for me. So, guys, CONGRATULATIONS!!, terrific job.
One question though. My XP machine has the IP address 192.168.2.2 so I can access the Home Seer web server only from the iMac and not from any other machine in my LAN. Is there a way to configure networking in order to get an IP address that can be accesed from the network?, like 192.168.1.X..

I'm not sure I correctly understood your fullscreen question... Now we have to options:

1. Default behaviour. During fullscreen transition current host resolution changes to current guest resolution.

2. Could be changed in menu Preferences->User Interface. During fullscreen transition current host resolution remains the same and guest resolution is changes via special guest tool. Latest Parallels Tools should be installed for this and it is only available now for Windows guests.

Good question. it is bridged, I changed it to host only and I could not reach the Internet. I am doing something worng?
My imac is connected to the network through wired Ethernet. Wireless is OFF.

What can I do so my XP virtual machine can have an independent IP address and be accessible from other machines onm the network?

asked to fast... solution go to display then settings/ advanced then adapter then more list more modes, pick the one you want and presto!

No - it should be bridged to access physical network. In host-only mode you'll be able to see only host and other VMs.

Well it is working bu the IP address is 10.0.2.2 I can't see the VM from any other machine in the LAN except from the iMac. Can I change that, and give the VM an IP adress that can be "seen" from the rest of the LAN?

It is strange. Can you post here tcp/ip settings for both iMac and guest VM?

My iMac Ethernet 192.168.1.78
On the PC 10.0.2.2 (works and is connected to the Internet)
How should I configure it to have a IP address that can be seen from the network?
In Sharing i have "share your connection from" Buil-in-Ethernet
To computers using ..and a check mark on airport, no check marks on Buil-in Ethernet or Ethernet Adaptor (en2)

Your guest address should be from the same network as your iMac - like 192.168.1.x . How your assigned it - using DHCP or manually? Are you sure you bridged to en0 or en1 (not en2)?

Ok Now I am sharing built-in ethernet with machines using built-in ethernet.
And, using DHCP, the XP has 192.168.2.2

Yes it is using DHCP. the XP connects ok to the internet but not, it can't be seen from the network except from the iMac. It seems to me that it is using NAT but there is no way to change it isn't?

It could be firewall issue then. Please check your firewall settings in guest XP.

no firewall is connected. The iMac is acting as a Router using NAT. I should be able to choose to connect without NAT but I can't see that setting on the VM.
