The solution offered below doesn't really help unless you know how to boot from cd which they don't explain. Thanks for that

http://kb.parallels.com/entry/63/516/

Before booting from cd go to Parallels EDIT and VIRTUAL MACHINE which will give you Configuration Editor. Under RESOURCE: OPTIONS: BOOTING tab tick CD/DVD Rom and under RESOURCE:CD/DVD ROM tick Connect At Startup and Use CD/DVD Rom.

Over 6 hours of a Sunday wasted trying to sort that out. Just a little tip to the people at Parallels - When you write a problem solving guide try and think about what you're writing and don't miss out chunks of important information.

Hello,

We guess you've misspelled the expand. Try again.

Best regards,

After i follow all the steps and get to the point where you have to type "expand d:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ c:\windows\system32" i get the message the system cannot find the file or directory specified.

I cant get past this no matter what i do.

I can run windows under boot camp, but not under parallels. so i dont see why this file would be missing for parallels but not for boot camp.
