New version defaults Mac Word to Windows Word

Since installing the new version, now when I click on a document while working in Mac OS, it opens Parallels and the Windows version of Word. Anybody have this problem?--and a know how to resolve it?

Thanks to Alicia's note--I removed Word from the start menu and do not have the problem. Was unable to find the SmartSelect?? but since it's working OK....

SmartSelect option is in VM's configuration editor. But since everything works ok now there's probably no need to check it.
