The fixes offered heretofore for various USB GPS devices (involving removing certain selected .kext files from the System folder) don't work with the TomTom, as the host always seizes the USB connection to the device before the guest can properly connect.

The solution is to modify the USB settings while the guest is shut down, specifying that the guest should connect to a new USB device by default.

I successfully ran TomTom Home 2.1 and configured my 920T without difficulty.

That did not work for me on the Go 720. Instead Parallels just freezes and has to be force-quit, just leaving some orphaned process running that I can't seem to figure out how to kill. The only way to recover is by rebooting the mac.

What version of OS X and Parallels are you running?

I'm using the latest version of Leopard and the latest build of Parallels.

Another possibility would be, rather than having the guest seize the USB by default, you can have it ask whether or not to do so; this is set while the guest is selected but not booted.

It's also possible that the kext editing that I did (and which didn't work on its own) is another key element of the fix.

Sorry you are having difficulties; I am not technically literate enough to help you analyze crash logs or the like.
