Hello Brianmay27,

I am sorry to say that Parallels Workstation is not currently supporting windows home server. This functionality will be added in future updates. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Best regards,

Hello Brian,

Unfortunately, I am not authorized to let you know the exact build supporting Windows home server or the time when it is going to be released. I can only tell you that Parallels developers are working on this.

Best regards,
Xenos

Can you say whether or not a furture update will support WHS as the Host OS rather than (or in addition to) WHS as the Guest OS?

Hello Brian,

Supporting both WHS as the Host OS and WHS as the Guest OS is planned.

Set the OS to Vista during WHS install, then after the first reboot, immediately shutdown and switch the OS back to Windows Server 2003. Why? WHS setup run initially in WinPE 2.0, which is based on Vista and requires ACPI, but WHS setup installs Windows Server 2003. BTW, note I really mean after the first reboot. This ensures the correct HAL is selected (Parallels only enables ACPI support if the OS is specified as Vista). If you see the blue Windows Setup screen and see the message prompting you to press F6, press F7 instead to disable ACPI (just in case you forgot to set the OS back to Windows Server 2003). If you miss this message and realize that you set it incorrectly to Vista, it is too late. Leave the OS set as Vista until you get to the Device Manager and set the HAL to Standard PC (easy to do, find the ACPI PC entry and use Update Driver, you will have to pick the driver manually and then you see a list of HAL you can change to). Of course after changing the HALs shutdown the VM and set the OS back to Server 2003.

Yuhong, thank you for the workaround. I hope it's going to be helpful for everybody until the official Windows home server support is available.
