I have been following the forum since June and Parallels convinced me to buy a MBP. I have been very impressed with the technology, but like others was waiting for critical enhancements (shared networking, USB 2) to be truly satisfied. I installed 3094(from 1970) and everything works flawlessly:
VPN to corporate network, Canon MFP printer (including scanning to windows apps). resizing windows is a great benefit. I am not using Boot Camp and can't exactly figure out why that would be desirable.
I want to congratulate the Parallels team on quite an achievement. I'll be experimenting over the holidays with coherence, and multiple displays, but so far this build seems very solid. Great job!

with all the problems with parallels not detecting boot camp partitions and windows installed on separate hard disks, why not just have a drive selection dialog and let the user pick a mounted drive?
if it's for simplicity sake to try to auto-detect it for the user, then its counter-productive because it is making it harder to get it working when a manually selected drive should work.
if there's a technical reason, please share if you can or at least tell us there is a reason but you can't share it.
thanks.
still seeing alot of people with a variety of hardware configurations that have the problem of Parallels not seeing their Boot Camp install. Please chime in to agree with my original post because I really think this is a very valid question for Parallels to answer:
"Why not just let the user choose a boot drive?"

I agree. Seems to be issues with Paralles seeing Boot Camp drive so as you say, just let us select the mounted dirve that XP resides on and be done with it.
You got my vote.

Well Beta 2 works alot better than version 1 which is good but I can still not get the BlackBerry to be recognized properly to allow me to use the Verizon Access Manager to run within Paralles.
Please get this to work!
On a side note, I downloaded the VMWare Fusion Beta - and the Blackberry works perfectly!

OK! I figured it out.
the following procedure works
do start-->run
in the run window type sc delete coherence
reboot windows
open a command window (type cmd after issuing a start-->run command)
cd c:\Program Files\Parallels\Parallels Tools
rename cohrence.exe to coherence.exe
then execute the command: coherence install
doing these steps got coherence working for me.
Thanks for the tips. I tried again, but still get the message:
"Unable to install Cohrence service. Code 1078.
The name is already in use as either a service name or a service display name"
Interesting that the spelling is Cohrence in the error message even though the file has been renamed.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hello,
unfortunately, my beta-key was usable only until 19th december. Does the problem with the greyed out option (Bootcamp) still exist?
Thank you
Yes, I still have this issue.

Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.
Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware.
Please check the windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information.
I cant get it work... :(

3094 - working great on my MBP C2D w/ / FAT32 Bootcamp partition.
I never installed my boxed copy, and abandoned 3036 after finding that it did not support FAT32. 3036 borked my Bootcamp Apple keyboard and trackpad drivers, so I used an external mouse and keyboard to boot and reload the drivers. 3094 however worked fine first go.
With Virtue Desktops it would be nice if Full Screen mode hid the Parallel's Desktop menu bar at the top - it ruins the seamless illusion of switching Smackbook fun.
3094 seems to renew it's DHCP lease about every 10 minutes / alot. ipconfig has shown me about a dozen IPs in the last hour. Found that one when using Remote Desktop / CoRD from Mac OS to connect to my Parallel's XP (wife rolled her eyes at that one).
Good job, keep up the good work. Looking forward to 3D support and iSight.

Here is the coherence solution - it worked for me:
1. Let the tools install normally and let the installer reboot the computer
2. Go into C:\Program Files\Paralllels\Parallels Tools\
3. Rename cohrence.exe to coherence.exe (i.e. proper spelling)
4. Uninstall Parallels Tools by going to the Apple Menu, Actions>Install Parallels Tools
5. The Parallels Tools folders and coherence.exe will remain on the hard drive and they should
6. Install Parallels Tools again by going the Apple Menu, Actions>Install Parallels Tools
7. Let the computer reboot and coherence will work!

I have been successfully using the 3094 build with the VM on the Mac side. An issue has now come up where, on closing, the Parallels screen is immediately dismissed - previously Quit had to be selected to dismiss it. This creates a problem if I want to change some of the VM parameters.
Anyone suggest what is happening? Thanks.

I'm running parrallels desktop from a bootcamp partition (FAT32) and it works now great compared to build 3036 but I cannot install parallels tools: the instaler shield starts but a fatal error occurs then: "Specified in parameter /z command line is not valid. The installation will be stopped." What can I do?
i'm stille having this problem... impossible to install parallels tools
moreover, every time I start windows in parallel, a video controller (vga type) is found but can't be installed: it misses the ATI pilots... though, in boot camp, no problem of that kind
What do I do?? Thanks

I believe that your drive mount wish would be technically impossible, since mounting that drive in the Windows VM would require OS X to unmount that drive (impossible since you are running the OS off that drive. However, 3036 and 3094 do allow file drag and drop between OS X and the VM. If anyone disagrees with this, please correct me.
By snapshots, are you talking about screenshots?
akac:
Regarding drive mounting: yes I understand it would be impossible if the partition was mounted by OS X, but what I'm talking about is letting someone partition their main drive so that they have a primary OS X partition, a Boot Camp partition (NTFS maybe), and a data partition that could be shared between the two. Under this scheme it could be possible to unmount the data partition in OS X and use it directly in Windows. I'm aware of the drag and drop transfer, which is very useful, and of shared folders, but neither of those gives me native perfomance. The problem I have is with Visual Studio 2003 which doesnt like working with its data if the data resides on a network drive: it slows to a crawl.
By snapshots I mean something along the lines of what they call snapshots in VMWare on windows / linux: they are basically savepoints for a whole VM. You can snapshot your system in a known good state and revert to it when needed (lets say a virus infection happens for example....this is great insulation from the perils of running an MS OS).

After installing Beta 2 Windows XP insisted to be activated again. Problem is I had to use the telphone routine and there were some red X's (like on a web page when the image file is missing from the web server) that covered up the numnber I would need to give to Microsoft. So I had to go back to Beta 1 for now since I have no way to activate. It reminded me why I switched to the Mac and gave up on Windows except for those few programs I still need it for.

I got beta 2 installed without much trouble for my existing XP instances. Tried three times to make it work for BootCamp partition without success. Last time I lo:mad:  st keyboard and mouse functionality. I did not have Tools for Bootcamp installed. I plugged in a USB keyboard and mouse, rebooted into safe mode and restored, so I did not lose much. In Parallels the bootcamp partition also did not have keyboard or mouse, so I just deleted it. Not much luck with USB devices either. The Apple modem installed but then my mouse and keyboard locked until I disconnected it. I also tried a Prolific serial to usb adapter, and it seemed to install but not work.

with the new build I was able to get the program to run on my fat32 partition.
I'm running at nearly full memory usage with the vm. Windows runs sluggish, and then when I go back into Mac, I get nearly 100% memory and CPU usage. I've tried a variety of memory settings allocated to the vm, and nothing seems to improve the performance. I'm especially worried about burning out my fan. I've even had to yank out the plug a couple of times.

OK, so I found the (or a) problem:
I had to stop running the apple keyboard manager (kbdmgr.exe) which was installed with the bootcamp tools when I created the bootcamp partition. It fixed the cpu and memory problems.
This problem only started when I ran Wxp in the vm, so I think there may be some clash with the parallels tools/keyboard drivers.
I hope this makes sense to someone.

Hello community!
As part of our continuing efforts to bring you the best virtualization solutions available, we’re proud to make Parallels Desktop for Mac Beta2 (Build 3094) early available to you. As with all previous updates, all registered Parallels customers will receive the final version of this update FREE!
Additional details are available on this page: http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/beta_testing/
Best regards,
Tim and Parallels Team
Above mentioned page states : "If you are a current Parallels Desktop for Mac user this Update will use your existing activation key. New users need to get a trial key to use the software."
This is completely UNTRUE.
If you are a current UK Parallels Desktop for Mac user, this Update will NOT use your existing activation key...
You have to be a US Parallels Desktop for Mac user to get this work.
Why ? That's really a good question...
Does anybody know the answer ???

Dear Parallels
The 3094 release works like a charm on my UK MacBook Pro except that they keyboard mappings are all a bit screwy!
The UK keyboard has an extra key compared to the U.S. version.
I see that Parallels have added some UK support as the £ key is now available, however the following keys are swapped around: -
` and § (the key to the left of number 1 and the key to the right of the left-shift key).
In addition, the new default mapping means that it is not possible to type <ALT GR> <2> which gives the Euro symbol. I know that there is a hack for this, but it would be good for this to be an option in the GUI rather than through the command line.
Many thanks once again for creating such a wonderful product!

JB

Hi everyone,
I screwed up. I was previously running beta 1 and trying to run Parallels with bootcamp. I have bootcamp running FAT32 so OSX can write to the Windows partition. Once I discovered beta 1 couldn't boot to FAT32 I uninstalled the Parallels tools and waited for beta 2.
Walla! It was released shortly thereafter. I installed beta 2 and set up a vm for bootcamp. I launched Parallels and it went through what looked like the auto installation of Parallels tools... and then seemed to lock up. I stupidly shut down the VM. Evidently the tools installation hadn't finished. Now, when I launch the Parallels beta 2 VM I get a blue screen of death:
http://atsosxdev.doit.wisc.edu/~dlavalle/ParallelsError.jpg
Obviously since I can't boot into Windows via Parallels I can't install Parallels tools via the Parallels menu option.
I can boot via bootcamp but there is no uninstall option for Parallels Tools. Is there a manual installer or uninstaller for Parallels Tools somewhere? I have tried reinstalling Windows and updating but that has not helped at all - I get the same behavior. If no one has any other suggestions, my only other option is going to be to reformat my FAT32 partition, and reinstall Windows from the ground up - not something I'm relishing. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

My two week activation number for the beta dies on the 28th - I bought my box product based on the quality of the previous beta release. I'll have to "downgrade" to the box version until this is fixed in beta or final release.
This is a bit of a problem as I'm trying to work out how I can outsource my University's Exchange mail system when all the outsource companies appear to need some way of handling .pst files which precludes the use of Entourage. 200+ Mac users are making that difficult but the few to whom I showed the Coherence mode of Parallels Desktop running Outlook would have bitten my hand off to have it :-( Now I can't demonstrate it when the University gets going again...

Is this because I bought a download rather than a packaged copy?

Hmm...with the latest beta version of Parallels, I still cannot use my Garmin Forerunner 205, but the behaviour is a bit different. Here is what happens:
1. I plug in my Garmin to my USB port on the MacBook Pro
2. I hear Windows system beep indicating a new USB hardware has been detected.
3. Windows asks to install USB device driver for this device. It finds the driver and installs it.
4. I cannot however use any of the Garmin programmes to detect the Forerunner 205. It doesn't detect the Forerunner. Not even after restarts etc.
What gives?

Like an earlier poster, I'm also having WIndows Activation issues. I'm running Parallels off an already-created and already-activated XP Pro SP2 Boot Camp partition (NTFS 80 GBytes....total HDD size is 160 GBytes). I get prompted to activate when I launch Windows in Parallels from the Boot Camp partition....and my already-activated Windows 25-digit product key is not accepted "According to our records, the number of times you can activate Windows with this product key has been exceeded.....". Help, please! And no, 'buy another product key' isn't an acceptable answer ;-)
You can use the PHONE option to activate rather than the internet option. Its a pain but you can reactivate, but will need to speak with a live person over the phone to do it. I have done this three times already between betas. You donot need to purchase a new license.

Coherence is so cool! Thanks to all the posts here I was able to get the copy of XP that came with Virtual PC on my old PowerBook migrated to this beta. Virtual PC was so slow it was useless on my Powerbook and when I tried to boot it up my copy of XP there was corrupt so I had to reinstall it. Now I've got 30-days to reactivate windows XP under parallels. I don't know if I'll have to call Microsoft or not. Will the next beta-s/rc-s/final of parallels require re-activation yet again or should I go ahead and activate now?
I just hate calling microsoft and explaining what/why I'm doing something. And I'm marginally concerned their going to give me grief for trying to move my legal copy of XP from my old computer running virtual pc to the new one running parallels.
Thanks!

I had to call Microsoft to get a keycode for Microsoft Office Professional.

I just installed the new beta. Vista RTM seems to hang on the startup screen (Black background with green status bar).
Vista will boot properly in safe mode, I'm not sure what's causing it to freeze up in normal mode. (Is there a verbose mode?)
I had this problem in beta 1 with Vista RC2 - it started working after a while.
I have the exact same problem. I would add that I can launch Vista in Safe Boot Mode, but Safe Boot Mode with network support hangs as well. Maybe something in the network support in the latest Parallels builds that is not Vista compatible??
I think that for the time being I'll revert to a previous build of Parallels.

Has anyone else experienced this?
I initially upgraded from 1970 to 3094 and it seem to go well but when I tried to install the new parallel tools the install failed. When I re-attempted the install it seemed to go well but then I tried to boot up my WIN XP PRO OS it went through the boot and the main XP logo page appeared the window resized as it did in the past and I could hear the XP audio logo but it failed to continue on to the blue Welcome page. It just hung and I was left with a black window.
I can uninstall 3094 and reinstall 1970. I have done this several times over now but I can't seem to get build 3094 fully operational I can always back down to 1970 and continue to use WIN XP Pro.
Anyone have a similar experience? Any suggestions how to reload build 3094?
I'd like to run Cisco VPN client and USB2.0 which is why I am interested in Beta2

I upgraded to 3094 from 3036.
When I had 3036 installed I was running XP SP2 in a bootcamp partition. I could successfully boot the bootcamp install of XP and run coheremce from a VM.
I could also boot the native XP install from bootcamp.
I removed the Bootcamp Tools as stated in the doc prior to running the vm.
After upgrading Parallels to 3094 XP worked both in Bootcamp, or the VM booting bootcamp partition. I then upgraded boot camp partition to Vista Ultimate. Have some of the boot camp drivers loaded in Vista, but not all as I have not figured out what else I need installed or how to install.
The result now is that the VM will not boot vista, it complains that BIOS is not right. Tried a repair. no dice.
The system does still boot when booting bootcamp. But the VM will not.
I guess next I will try to create a new VM for Vista using the bootcamp partition with a clean install. Which I was hoping to avoid as I had XP tweaked and configured perfectly with several apps.
Anyone with ideas how to fix the bios problem?

I had parallels 3094 running on the backup partition, and then I shut the vm down.
Later, I plugged in a firewire HD with three partitions, and then tried to start up the vm again, and I got the error message "parallels cannot start the virtual machine from the Boot Camp partition because Boot Camp is not installed on your system"
I ejected the hard discs, and started parallels again. this error message went away, and I was able to boot the vm again.
I'm trying to see if there's something in the background (my backup program for instance) silently using the windows xp partition, but I haven't been able to find anything.

I had the same problem. If you follow the instructions on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314082/ under "More Information" you should be able to resolve that. I'm now stuck with a different problem. See the attached image. It may have had something to do with the first successful boot with Parallels crashing when I ran out of hard drive space. I'd mess with it some more, but I'm pretty tired.

I just updated to the latest beta and it didn't go as smooth as others. Initially under XP it gave a message about updating the video driver. Upon reboot after the splash screen it just stayed blank. I was able to log in to Vista RC2 and everything went smooth. Safe mode under XP was fine, I noticed that when I captured control there were still two pointers the Windows one kept slowly moving down the screen. I ended up having to use the keyboard to navigate around. In the end I managed to get the video sorted under Win XP.
The only remaining problem is: Windows finds a new USB controller but it fails to detect any drivers. Even if I try and do a manually driver install none of the generic ones work. Removing it in the device manager and re-installing causes the same result no driver found. I also noticed when I switched to coherence mode or shutting down the screen will briefly slide as if it was switching monitors & slide back again but I only have one monitor.
The lack of finding a USB controller driver is the main bug I see so far.

Using Vista, never installed the tools for bootcamp - NTFS partition. I cannot select the bootcamp option when creating a new VM - I can create a new VM with no HD - then select bootcamp as my HD - it attempts to load - gets to the windows vista bar - and immediately stops booting.
I can boot successfully with no issues in bootcamp.

Finally the problems I had ( since the first prerelease versions) communicating with my FTDI USB/RS232 adapter are almost solved with this 3094 BETA2 release.
I hope this will go even better with the official release :) .

First let me apologize if this has already been addressed -- I searched the posts and did not see anything on this.
Over the weekend I took the plunge and upgraded from 1970 to 3094 and have been pleased with the results. Sure Convergence it s bit slower, but it is way cool.
Coming into the office this morning I notice I cannot get Parallels to display on my additional display. With 1970, I could run OSX on the display of my MBP and put WinXP on the external display -- a nice arrangement. But with 3094 I cannot get Parallels to go full screen on the external display and, in Coherence mode, I cannot drag a window into the external display.
Otherwise, it works fine.
Any ideas?

Had a clean install of new 3094 build running an XP VM, but when I print from Quickbooks (to my USB HP 1200 Printer) I get a hard crash with a dump that throws me out of the VM all together.
I just downgraded to 1970 since I need to print a few things from QB's, but thought someone should know about this bug.

Several months ago I had swapped the control and command keys
to deal with copy-paste-etc compatibility.
With the new azxcv transparency feature,
that was worse than unnecessary-- it made the control keys inaccessible.
I couldn't remember how I'd done the mapping,
so to undo the damage I removed the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout\Scancode Map
See
http://searchwinit.techtarget.com/tip/0,289483,sid1_gci962513,00.html
and
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/input/w2kscan-map.mspx
(I'd had problems with the popular InputRemapper .)
This IS better, and worth the trouble to undo the previous swapping,
to get finger consistency.
(Especially since students sometimes do presentations from my Parallels XP installation.)

I learned the hard way.
To install Parallels Tools,
1) make sure the CD drive is enabled in your VM
2) make sure there's nothing in the physical drive.
I don't think these requirements were documented -- didn't see them anyway.

Every version is a significant improvement, not just minor tweaks and bug fixes. Amazing work guys. Parallels is daily use tool for me and you are constantly making the process of having to deal with Windows as less painful process.

I'm very pleased to say that I'm up and running on the latest version. Not new issues as of yet.
It doesn't look like the Parallels team has made any effort on the issue where you can't configure a VM after you set it to start when you launch Parallels Desktop and Quit on Exit. In case anyone isn't following this, this is a pretty big problem.
How do you modify the configuration on these VMs??? You can't change settings while the VM is running and you can't modify them because Parallels quits when you shutdown the VM. I really hoped something like this would have been fixed in the new build.
We take part in the beta program to alert Parallels to functionality and usability issues. When no action is taken regarding issues it makes people wonder what's the point in participating. AT THE VERY LEAST the Parallels team should create a list of items they are tracking and items that have been fixed in the latest build.
Thanx!

Coherence is very impressive but I think it could be even better with a slight modification (or two). At present when I switch into the windows desktop if I then hit the "command" key to start the "command" tab switching the windows start menu appears. Hitting the "command" key brings this up and hides it. Is there some way that I can change the configurations so that the "command" key doesn't bring up the windows start menu?
Secondly if I am using Coherence so that the windows programs just behave like other Mac applications then really the windows desktop should NOT appear in the "command-tab" application bar. This way it would function just like any other application. Ideally you would still be able to access it via the dock but it would be hidden from the application switcher. This could be an option you set in Parallels. I don't know if this is technically possible for a Mac application but it would be much more like "cross-over' in function.

I have a fresh BootCamp install of Vista which runs great when I boot into the bootcamp partition natively.
I cannot boot Vista from the BC partition in Parallels.

I do not have the Parallels tools installed in the VMas I have not been able to boot.

Hey,
I have a bootcamp partition that works fine and so I wanted to try it with the new parallels beta release. But all I get is a blue screen in the VM when it tries to start windows. This then falls back to the screen to boot into windows in safe mode or normally. Selecting anything simply does the same thing in an endless cycle of fun :)
I read above that the bootcamp tools are not required - is this 100% confirmed? I was thinking of trying them just incase.
This whole blue screen issue does not seem to affect my bootcamp partition as I can still boot natively into it no problems. But this new parallels just doesn't want to play nice for me.
*note: I am running bootcamp 1.1.2 Beta*
Any ideas?

Its NOT a major problem for ALL people with multiple displays.
I Like to keep my VM limited to ONE screen not multiple, so the way it works is fine for me.
Please lets make sure if it gets fixed for everyone else that people who work the way I do also still have a working solution.

This is a major issue for people with multiple displays.
I'm not sure what the problem is.
Running 3094 on a Mac Pro with 2 17" tft screens here. I can start up an XP SP2 VM and move the window to the second screen and drag it to fill that screen, then switch to Coherence. The task bar drops to the bottom of the secondary screen, the XP windows sit on that screen, I can move them anywhere on that screen, and it all works fine for me. I can't move XP windows onto the primary screen, but I don't need to. XP is a painful secondary environment for me, and having it contained on one screen is just fine.
I have tried enabling multiple displays in Coherence options as an experiment, and that lets XP windows move anywhere on the two screens, but I don't like the task bar spanning both screens.

I liked new features in 3094, particularly the public folder switch on the menu bar. Had to re-activate my Windows. The reactivation screen contained "?" objects that obscured one of the code numbers...Microsoft help desk actually helped figure out the missing number and proceeded with activation.
Palm TX would not establish a connection with Windows PC. Attempted toggling autoconnect on/off...and the other sudo command from a previous post...no success.

upon booting a parallels VM using bootcamp (fat32), it sits on the login screen and I can't use the mouse or keyboard. It's completley unresponsive. Neither Parallels tools for bootcamp, nor parallels tools were installed into my bootcamp before.
Anybody else experiencing this?
I have the same problem with physically booting up into my Boot Camp volume. I get to the login screen, and the mouse is frozen so I can't click on my user name, but the VM works fine.
I'm using an ntfs, er, whatever, the other kind of volume from Fat32. I installed Parallels Tools for Boot Camp with the previous Beta, and I forgot to uninstall for 3094.
I'm also on an ioGear KVM switch, G5 and Intel Mac mini (with BootCamp), single monitor. I sure would like to figure out how to fix it. Booting into Safe Mode doesn't fix it. Also tried, "last successful config," Safe boot with networking, always the same. Sometimes I get an Administrator pref that I can't click as well as my user name.

Folks, before I do the install, can someone who has already tried it describe the compatibility between Beta 2 of Parallels and Mediafour's MacDrive? I'd like to install MacDrive for access to the OS X partition from Windows running in Boot Camp, but what happens to MacDrive when that same Windows partition is running virtualized via Parallels?
MacDrive silently does not function inside the Parallels VM (no errors or other issues). That should be no problem, since you can use Parallels shared folders from inside the VM to access Mac folders.

Are there plans to include the ability to split the virtual hard disk into 2GB chunks as with the VMWare products? I try to run my VMs from an external HDD to improve performance however because I have to be able to access that drive from a PC as well, have it formatted in FAT32 and so once my VM grows beyond 4GB, it is history. If this functionality already exists please educate me -- but I haven't been able to find it.
Thanks!

I noticed when I installed 3094, Windows saw a different video controller. Now when I started my ubuntu 6.10 VM, I no longer get anything over 1024x768, even though the are enabled in the VM profile. I am assuming the fundamental video architecture changed, and it is no longer a "modified" vesa video controller. Will Parallels be releasing a linux 2.6 video driver ?

have a MB Pro with 1 GB or RAM, in the last release my XP was set to use 448 MB of RAM and ran well, after the upgrade I got an error to lower the RAM to 220 MB for best performance. when I did that, I could no longer raise the RAM without getting "The memory size specified(320 MB) exceeds the recommended maximum of 220 MB. You must reduce the memory size otherwise you will not be able to start the virtual engine." This makes installing Vista impossible as it won't load in less than 256 MB, I just tried. Coherence was available in the older version and everything worked properly, how do I get Parallels to use half of my RAM? I have rebooted, have nothing open. I only have 162 MB of wired RAM yet I have the 220 MB limit.
thanks, my copy of vista is on the shelf til this gets resolved, I ran a new engine and hit the 220 MB limit again on Vista.

Hello,
I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but it seems that under this latest beta (but not the prior) any VM that I boot (XP / Vista / Suse) will eventually consume all available ("real") RAM, irrespective of the caching policy or the hard limit set the in Parallels->Memory preferences.
This is on a MacBook Core 2 Duo with 2GB RAM.
Has anybody else noticed anything similar and found a solution?

I've been using 3094 Beta 2 for several days now. This evening, it decided to go blue screen on me. Windows will put up a blue screen (see attached) if I have the networking enabled. This is really annoying.
The blue screen has the error "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". Screen cap available on requst.
I've got a MacBook Pro, 2.33 Core 2 Duo. 2 Gig of ram.
I'm running Windows XP SP2 off the boot camp partition.
Boot camp still works fine (including networking).
According to Microsoft, the error I'm getting is caused by a bad driver. Any ideas on how to remove the network driver and install a fresh one? I tried removing the Parrallels network adapter from the Device manager in hopes of reinstalling it, but that did not work.

I have tried both Vista Business and Vista Ultimate and both have the same issues:-
1. Stability
After a new install Vista is set to goto sleep (standby mode) after 20mins. On clicking start in the Parallels menu Vista starts running again. But it does not always come out of standby.
Of course there is no need to have standby mode enabled in the VM but i am sure when Vista enters standby they will think the VM has locked up.
2. Time syncronization does not always seem to work.
I am running Vista in Coherence mode and will just shut the lid on my MacBook Pro. On opening the lid the mac comes back alive but Vista's clock is still working from the time that i closed the lid on the MacBook Pro. Every morning i have to go into Visa and resynch the time with the windows timeserver.
Paralells tools are installed and the time synchronization option is enable.
3. In Coherence mode Parallels get confused!
Sometimes Parallels thinks a window is open in a certian location but it is not really there so i end up seeing a square of the windows desktop being shown.

As for what paco.blasco reports, I find it odd. I happen to use a Spanish keyboard on both my XP Boot Camp installation and my Parallels Vista Ultimate 30-day trial and both work flawlessly on Mac Pro. In any case, I don't think the Parallels team are responsible for any shortcomings in keyboard definitions; those are attributable to Microsoft and Apple. In any case, perhaps paco.blasco uses a MacBook or MacBook Pro. If that is the case, I also happen to know that the keys for <> and ºª\ are swapped. If you want a fix, you have to create a keyboard definition for your own use (there's a Microsoft utility for such things), or, if an email address is provided, or I am suggested an alternative procedure, I can send you the keyboard definition I created.
All the best.

And now, with the 3106(?) build, it's smart enough to know that I have the earlier Parallels Tools for BootCamp installed, and it refuses to run.
But I'm faced with the fact that I can't boot into BootCamp anymore. It freezes up around mup.sys. I tried the "repair" function -- the second one, not the Recovery kind -- and now it opens in Windows, and gets stuck about halfway. I can't use Safe Mode, because I've repaired the system, and it wants to run those files and configure them first. I think I'm totally, uh, screwed. I can find the folder, "Parallels Tools for Boot Camp on my Windows partition, but it's read only. I can't just trash it.
Any help would be delightful. My limited Windows expertise is at an end.

300is now officially an unsupported setup ;-(...I was hoping that this would be solved in a different way...but there is hope, because they say the current (beta? 3106) version is not supporting this...so which version will support this environment? Until then using Windows with bootcamp in the Apple way on startup...
...or is it possible to do something thru setup?
Anyway keep on the good work...and best regards...

Could you or anyone provide an update on this issue? I have precisely the same problem and it's debilitating. I would appreciate a full response from the Parallels team, but so far nothing forthcoming.
Any reply would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Tim
Thanx!
