I woke up this morning thinking how awesome would it be if I could open my Word and Excel documents stored on my Mac side with my Office 2007 on my XP side with Parallels. It should be possible to associate the file extensions on the OSX side with the applications across on the XP side. Well after googling around and seeing others asking for the same thing yet no answer I though I'd play around with Automater and VB to see if I could come up with something. A little over an hour later this is my end result. I am now able to double click a word document and it sends the doc to the XP side and then launches Word 2007. Same with Excel documents.
Please note the speed is much faster then whats shown in the video, when recording my screen my computer pegged out so the 3-5 seconds is really 1-2 seconds.

Once I leave work I'll clean up my source code and post it here for anyone to have. I really just wanted this for myself to be able to use Office 2007 better with my Mac. Take is as is with no warranty! Maybe we can get something like this added to the actual Parallels tools application. Let me know what you all think.

How is it going? I would love to be able to do this. Have you had a chance to clean the code up?

We have feature like this available in new beta. With it you can launch Windows applications and open documents with them from your Mac simply by double clicking. You can also do it in reverse order (open documents from Windows wih Mac applications). More over, you can run Windows executables directly from your Mac, by double clicking on it!

First let me say WOW! that is cool. I just want to give you guys credit for all of the work that is being put into Parallels, it is amazing how far this products has come in such a short time.
Please post in this thread when this comes out, or is there a place where we can monitor for this?
I can not wait, this feature will definetly streamline my current workflow.
