parallels closes unexpectedly on startup

i click on parallels, enter my password and it starts to load windows vista, installed on another partition on my macbook. it asks me if i want to start in safe mode or regular mode. i select regular mode. the screen goes black for about 20 seconds and then parallels closes unexpectedly. how do i solve this? is it a known issue?

got it sorted. just had to finish running windows update on vista, but had to boot into vista from bootcamp to do this.
