I am unable to connect to Internet in Windows XP. What should I do ?
I have tried lot of changes in config of network adapter (Default, Host, Wireless, Shared) , but none seem to work. What additional information is required ? Below is the log from the file that has most settings.

I think this problem occurred due to some update...(dont know which one).

Thanks,
Ambar

Do you have antivirus in Windows?
Can you access Internet from Firefox - download it from mac OS side and install in Windows, if you can , than probably antivirus or third party Firewall is blocking access

ambarbansal

Yes, I do have anti-virus in windows. But it has always been there. Somehow the internet access in Windows stopped after a software update. I am not clear what you are suggesting:
(1) Try accessing internet from firefox browser in windows with current anti-virus / firewall OR
(2) Shut down anti-virus in windows and access with existing internet explorer

Thanks,
Ambar

Ambar:
I have had the same problem on both my Mac Pro and my Macbook Pro. They both happened after the last critical update of XP was done (the one after SP3). My solution was to do a Windows System Restore to a point in time before the last update on both computers and to turn off the automatic update feature in XP. Not a good solution but at least my computers are both working again. I will not try another XP update until Parallels has a new update.

The problem is not to disable antivirus, but to correctly set up it,
I hope antivirus software support has correct instaructions

Simply saying that one should set up the antivirus "properly" is not very helpful. I use Webroot and used a standard setup which has always worked before.

I do not know settings for webroot, but it seems exatcly it is blocking IE

Do you think internet access will work if I switch off anti-virus in windows?

John@Parallels

Probably the best way is to check, you can always install it back, if it fails
