Gang,

So there does not seem to be a VM device driver for DOS that will allow reading the CD drive. Is that correct? As there is no load Parallels Drivers in the menu as there is with other OS's.

So I am trying to move over my old PC stuff into a VM so I clear out my desk. So since I cannot mount a USB drive (same reason as CD drive), then I thought what about mounting an image file of a hard drive???

Is that possible in Parallels... if so I can zip up a bunch of stuff into an image and create that using winimage and then unzip as needed.

Thanks
Gordon

You don't need a VM driver for a CD, you need a DOS driver. DOS will read and write floppy image files (.fdd), and with appropriate drivers loaded with DOS, will read CDs and read / write small hard disks (within the FAT 16 limit). The VM already provides a virtual CD reader, you just need a DOS driver.

I haven't tried it, but I did install Win2k from floppy images.

Joe,

Yea I know that the CD driver would do it. But since there isn't one I figured the next best thing would be too use Winimage and make a hdd but I can't really see if that is possible.

Anyone know if there is a CD driver for dos?

Thanks
Gordon

You can try the following open source atapi cd driver for FreeDOS. It's work.
