Can't set-up ISP & email in VM

Hi,
I am new to this forum. I have a issue with my Parallels & mac Mini (maxOSx)

I can not figure out how to set up the VM (windows XP prof) to access my ISP & email?
I use a cable ISP. The DHCP is set when I open it to see what the values listed are.
I am lost. I know there is several ways to connect according to the manual, but neither are very clear on the procedure to use to get them to work.

So you set networking to bridged and your virtual machine is getting a valid cable IP? Can you run a ping from within the virtual machine?
