Will a USB software protection dongle work with Windows XP (running with Parallels Desktop 10 on a Mac Book)? Running the software in XP of course. Thanks.
Hi Jim, Yes, USB software security dongles do work with Parallels Desktop. Just make sure you select the xp for you external device, when the "New external device detected" window pops up.
Thanks kat. You're talking about whenever the dongle is inserted, I think? Not during the installation of XP, right?
This would be after you start your XP VM, insert the dongle into the USB port and the "New external device detected" will pop up, then select the XP VM. This should mount the dongle in your XP VM. I believe XP is no longer supported by Microsoft, this means if you don't already have a XP VM you may not be able to authenticate/register your product.
Thanks again kat. What does it mean (consequences) if are not be able to authenticate/register your product? Also, does parallels run ad?
You can activate but without any support, pc world article: http://www.pcworld.com/article/250774/will_i_be_able_to_activate_xp_after_2014_.html Try to activate it, but realize you have no support for the operating system. (If you need any help with it they will not provide it) Microsoft link about end of life support : http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/help/what-does-end-of-support-mean Microsoft Policies: http://support2.microsoft.com/gp/lifepolicy Also what do you mean by "does parallels run ad?"
Thanks again kat. By "run ad" I meant "run ads" or does Parallels display advertising while it's running?
