Parallels Server Bare Metal + High Availability

Hi All,

Just a question regarding Parallels Server Bare Metal install. Does/Will it support high availability and server migration utilising shared storage in the near future? I noticed that during installation iscsi storage is an option, however when it is selected the installer crashes :(.

If it isn't planned for the release of the product, will it be available at some stage down the track?

Will it utilise a native Filesystem/clustering configuration, or use existing product suites (Like RHCS)?

Yes, it is in our roadmap - but not for the current release. Unfortunately i can't share any dates here - just want to note that clustered filesystem and its utilization to perform vm migration will be in the next next versions of the product.

Ok, so this means that it is planned but will not be released when Parallels Server becomes production (Its first version). Is this correct? If so, we will look at Virtuozzo for now instead of Parallels Server

Correct - it will not be in the first version of the product.

that is interesting for me too.
Is there some High Availability option yet?
And how about NIC teaming?
In Hyper-V it is terrible, because you have to use the vendor drivers to set up a team.
I am looking for an simple way to team NICs like in VMware ESX.

I see there has been a significant period of time since the last post on this matter. We're preparing to further evaluate virtualization platforms for an upcoming project. We currently use vmware but have interest in using Parallels Bare Metal providing it has features similar to 'vmotion'. I'm not able to find anything in the documentation about such a feature. Anyone know if it exists?

We just launched Beta program of 5th version of Parallels Server Bare Metal.
It provides high availability clustering for both Virtual Machines and Containers via Red Hat Clustering Suite.
