I have FreeBSD as the guest Windows XP as the host with Parallels Workstation. When I tell FreeBSD to shutdown and power off it shuts down to a halt stage ready to restart at any keystroke. The power off part doesn't seem to work. It does work when run on a physical computer so I am supposing the Workstation does not recognize the 'power off' signal from FreeBSD. What power management protocol does Workstation recognize? Maybe I have to configure FreeBSD to use an older method. Also, when I tried to load Windows Vista as guest it refused - my recollection was that it wanted ACPI or something like that and couldn't find it.
