    Hi there,

I browsed through older posts concerning similar topic but didnt find a satisfying answer.
I am running parallels 8 on a 8GB Ram MBP mid 2010 edition with an SSD hard drive.

I have to process huge amounts of data in my windows environment and miss the performance of 8GB Ram when using bootcamp.

I switched to parallels unaware that I lose half of the available RAM in virtualisation.

Can someone explain to me what will happen if I increase the allocated RAM to say 6GB?
When I am working in windows I am not performing any major tasks on my Mac.

Will my performance increase? Have there been performance tests with 8GB machines that proofed the optimum RAM allocation?

    Thanks!

Assigning 6 GB of RAM to your VM will most likely slow down your Mac. Having half of your RAM assigned to the VM is more than enough. If you are not satisfied with Windows running slow, I can suggest to follow this KB article for tune-up: http://kb.parallels.com/112091
