I get an error that the drivers for the dvd drive cannot be found when I try to create a new Windows 8 64 bit virtual machine.

    Some points of note:
    • I'm using an Apple SuperDrive USB
    • It works fine installing the 32 bit version
    • It worked the first time I tried installing from the 64 bit (I had to remove that machine because I screwed it up)

Any ideas? My big questions are these:
    • Would this happen if I used a different drive?
    • Is there any other solution?

    Thank you!!!!!!

    Additional details...

Also, I'm running Parallels 9 on a most recent vintage MacBook Air.

    Thanks, again.

    Hi NickNico,

You wouldn't have to install additional drivers in your Windows Virtual Machine. Parallels Tools would load all Virtual Machine drivers.

Please follow the steps outlined in the article below to install Parallels Tools in your Windows Virtual Machine:
