I have been using a Mac Book Pro Retina from May 2013 using Parallels 8, no problems. Since upgrading to Parallels 9 I experienced some occasional but complete freezes of the host. I could only restart the system. No messages or any info as to how or what happened. Because I suspected a hardware problem and could not loose any time, I bought a brand new Mac Book Retina in December 2013. Did a complete fresh install of everything including Parallels 9 build 24172. Not shortly thereafter, again a complete freeze. So, now on a brand new machine with a complete fresh install!

Apple support hasn't got a clue what is going on, Parallels hasn't got a clue what is going on but I am really stuck in the middle after spending a large amount of money. How can it be that I have this on 2 consecutive machines? Do others experience the same problems?

Have the same issue running brand new rMBP 15" 2013 , Parallels latest version install - Mac will totally lock/freeze after a time even if Parallels is not running or anything else for that matter, I was coming from a MBP 17" 2009 and did not have this problem.

After mulling it over a bit and seeing odd "parallels" related messages in the console I removed Parallels Access completely and now all is good - except no Parallels access :-(
