Hello- Just loaded Snow Leopard Server VM within Parallels 8. Then installed parallels tools and restarted. I have no sound or sharing. Its like the tools aren't installed. I tired re-installing tools and still no luck. I have the most up to date version of Parallels 8 and this is running on a 2012 Macbook pro with 8GB memory.

    Any tricks or thoughts? Thanks!

    Hello anotherusername,

Please follow the steps as suggested at the knowledge-base article to resolve the sound issues : http://kb.parallels.com/120937

Also please follow the steps as suggested below to see if the Sharing feature is working properly :

Update Parallels Desktop to the latest build by clicking on Parallels Desktop menu ► Check for updates ( http://kb.parallels.com/111603 )

Start Parallels Desktop. Do not start your Virtual Machine or shut it down if it is running.

Go to VM Config (http://kb.parallels.com/117287) -> Options -> Sharing and Enable Shared Profile

Restart the Virtual Machine and check if it is working.

    Thanks,
    Maheeshwar

Hello- had the same problem and tried to do as mentioned by maheeswar and it didn't work. I found the solution as follows:
You have to put the SL vm into 32-bit mode via terminal. run this command: sudo nvram boot-args="arch=i386" then reboot the vm and it should work.
See also article ID 8619. The reason is that you need the shared folders feature which works with the MacFuse driver but only in 32-bit mode.
    Have fun!
