    I am playing Final Fantasy VII using Windows 8 in Parallels. When I first tried to play the game, I found that most textures would refuse to load / display -- including backgrounds, menus, etc. It made the game unplayable, as you could not see what was happening.

    At the behest of two threads that I found here (http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?262302-Final-Fantasy-7 and http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?262132-Resolution-for-others&p=639489#post639489) I tried checking the Configuration -> Security option of "Integration: Isolate Windows From Mac" -- and that worked.

    However, this is not ideal for me, as while this does fix whatever graphical issue was causing the various textures not to load, it also removes all integration of Windows & Mac. So shared user folders are no longer possible, the C drive is no longer accessible from within Mac, drag and drop no longer works between the OS', etc.

    None of these features seem as if they would have any bearing on the graphics of a game; I cannot see how, for instance, shared folders would possibly effect Direct X's ability to render backgrounds.

    So.

    Is there a way to disable whatever integration options are causing this graphics glitch while still retaining the other integration options, such as shared folders?

    Any guidance is much appreciated! :)

    Hi PhnordP,

    Check with the steps below to run the game without isolating from Mac;

    Go to Configure of VM ( http://kb.parallels.com/117287 ) > Hardware > Video > 3D Acceleration > change Direct X10 to Direct X9

    Now change the Video Memory from 256MB to 1GB

    Tried this... it didn't work. I have tried both DirectX10, DirectX9 and Disabled at both 1GB and 512MB, with no dice.

    The only thing that has made the graphics load properly is choosing the "Isolate Windows From Mac" option...

    Does the game work when "Isolate Windows From Mac" is not checked but all the integration options (Shared Folders etc) are disabled?

    If that's the case, then you could try turning on the integration options until you find one that causes a problem. I would guess "Shared Profile" would have the most effect.
