Hi everyone, I am a mobile developer. I got all tools that I need when switching from Windows to Mac. However, I have to use Construct 2 because of my work (http://scirra.com). I install Parallel Desktop 8 (Build 8.0.18608) and install Windows 8 on it. However, when I run Construct 2, it just crashed immediately. Researching on Google and asking few people in the Scirra forum, I think that it is the issue with the graphic card. It seems like Construct 2 only support intel, AMD and NVidia graphic card. When I checked the graphic card on Windows running via Parallel Desktop, it shows that the current graphic card is Parallel Desktop card. Anyone has any idea how I can run this program. I really need it for my work and I tried everything I can but doesn't help. Thanks in advance.
Run it natively on Bootcamp: https://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/ https://support.apple.com/kb/ht1461
Hi LongDao. Please update your Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac to the latest build (8.0.18619) as suggested at: http://kb.parallels.com/111603 and check how it works.
According to this thread: https://www.scirra.com/forum/construct-2-on-mac-osx_t61941?start=70 Uninstall Parallels Tools and try it.
So as you suggested, Construct 2 cannot run on Windows via Parallel Desktop? I haven't tried bootcamp but prefer getting it works on Parallel first. If bootcamp is the only solution, maybe I will try it. Cheers,
Hi LongDao. Please follow the steps as suggested bellow: 1. Shutdown Virtual Machine. 2. Go to Virtual Machine Configuration (http://kb.parallels.com/117287) > General > Increase number of CPU's to '2', increase memory to '4GB'. 3. Click Security > Select Isolate Mac from Windows. 4. Click on Options > Optimization > check Enable Adaptive Hypervisor. 5. Follow the steps as suggested at http://kb.parallels.com/115645 to tune your VM for best performance. 6. start Virtual Machine > start Construct 2 and and let us know how it works.
Ram, if you take time to look at my second reply and open the link to the scirra forums you'll see users experiencing the same issue as LongDao and that the solution for them was to uninstall Parallels Tools, there seems to be some incompatibility between the Graphic Drivers and Construct 2.
Hi, I already read your posts and posts in the scirra forum as well. I uninstall the Parallel Tools and reinstall it but seems like it doesn't work, still the same issue. On the scirra forum, some said that they uninstalled and re-installed it but it didn't work for them as well.
No, what they say is that it only works with Parallels Tools uninstalled. You're not supposed to (re)install PT according to the posts I linked if you want C2 to work.
Thanks Specimen and Ram. After uninstall the Parallel Desktop tools, Construct 2 works. However, I lost some features like sharing driver, etc. Anyway, getting Construct 2 working is more important for me. Cheers,
