On my 2006 MacBook Pro I had a numerical keyboard of sorts and was able to generate all sorts of characters by turning it on, holding down the Option-key and entering a four-digit code that represented something like a Unicode (the em-dash was represented by 0151). My 2011 MacBook Pro doesn’t have the numerical keyboard anymore. How do I generate the em-dash now?
