I finally called parallels and discovered that I needed to purchase a Windows 8 and download the disc into the program. I did and first my computer froze on me. After I restarted it, I was told that it can't find an operating system and something about disconnecting other systems. Am I missing an operating system? Should I have looked at what kind of Mac I had before I spent money on these two programs? It appears that not all Macs are compatible to Parallels.

    Hello Droggo,

Please check the version of your Mac Operating system, Parallels Desktop 9 is compatible from Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 . You can refer this link: http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/ to know more about the system requirements of Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac.

If you're using an older version of Mac Operating system which is not compatible with Parallels Desktop 9, upgrade your Mac OS to the latest and download Parallels Desktop 9 again from: www.parallels.com/directdownload/pd9 and follow this article: http://kb.parallels.com/116989 to install Parallels Desktop 9.

After you install Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac, you can install Windows with the DVD or with the .iso image file.

You can follow the steps in this link: http://kb.parallels.com/4729 to install Windows on your Mac using Parallels Desktop.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
