When running Windows via Parallels Desktop, I used to have the red My Boot Camp icon on the Mac desktop. It is no longer there (i.e., the virtual disk is not mounted to the desktop).

The option to mount this is checked in the Virtual Machine -> Configure... -> Options -> Sharing window. (See Screenshot 1). Also, Finder preferences allow Connected Servers (See Screenshot 2).

Have followed this document, but no help: http://download.parallels.com/desktop/v6/docs/en/Parallels_Desktop_Users_Guide/22907.htm. Found a couple of other's also. The last forum message on the topic I found is is 7 years old.

I'm lost as to how to get this working. Please help.

    Thanks.

Sorry for the delay in responding.

    Update:
Noticed the last few times I've used Parallels, the Boot Camp disk showed up after a long delay, and not every time. Have no idea what causes it to show up, but believe it is something I do when running Windows. Not sure if this affects the solution.

    Question:
On uninstall-reinstall of Parallels, will I have to re-activate Windows 8? Have had to do this twice already because of Parallels, and the last time Microsoft led me to believe it was the last time I got to do this without paying for Windows again.

    Thanks for your help.

In other words, no, the VM is unaffected, and you won't need to reactivate Windows: http://kb.parallels.com/en/116992
