I have recently upgraded my imac to os 10.9.4. I have used parallels 9 on that mac before. I copid my pvm file to my macbook to be able to continue working while my iMac got an new hard disk and the new system. I have tried to both copy and clone the .pvm and when i try to open it in prallels 9 in my Imac I get the error " "Unable to connect Hard Disk 1 A file or device required for the operation of Hard Disk 1 does not exist or is used by another process, or you have no permission to access it. The virtual machine wil continue running, but the device will be disconnected."

I have tried to search for help in parallels support, but the help I could find, told me to check the log file, and when I did that i didn't have the same lines as in the help (http://kb.parallels.com/en/116508). So i am stuck. The copy i made, works fine from the macbook I copied it from, so i guess there is some problems with my iMac, but what am I supposed to do??

I really need som help since I haven't been able to use prallels on my iMac for 2,5 months now...

I have a clone of my vm. I can't find any hdd file there. I can't find any information about what to do then. I have a copy of my vm. it contains a .hdd file. When I try to change the path in configure, the .hdd files transforms to a folder containing 4 .hdd files. I am very sorry, but the information given in the site you referred to, is not useable for me who is npt so used with pc in english. This i driving me crazy since it seems impossible to get any help!!!

And i have tried to make a support request but i get the answer that my free support has expired - I am offered to buy phone support. This is not any option for me, I am in sweden and don't want to talk to someone by phone. And, when I click on the link for buying telephone support, i end up at page http://kb.sp.parallels.com/en/6571 which tells me to go to the chat page where they told me to go to page 6571 - this is driving me totally crazy!! Can you please tell me what I am supposed to do to get this programme that I have paid for, to work?????

In the original mac, was the Windows installed via Bootcamp (meaning it could boot natively without OSX and Parallels)? If it was, cloning a virtual machine or copying the .pvm will not work, it only does for fully virtualized hds.

It was not installed via Bootcamp. I have copied .pvm files before without problem, and this copy runs on the original mac ( my MacBook) when I run it from the external hard disk.

I have read the first suggestion. I can't find any information on what to do if I ther is no .hdd file in the package. Since I have no .hdd I can't repair it. So the answer is, it didn't get any better with 4680.
