I get the following message when I try to start Parallels Desktop.

    The Product license has expired.

To continue using Parallels Desktop, you need to purchase a license renewal. If you have already done so, click Renew License.

When I click the Renew button, it says.

Unable to update the product license.

Your license hardware ID has changed and does not coincide with that on the license server. Please contact the Parallels support team for assistance.

I've changed nothing since yesterday. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, same error message.

Help, have urgent things to do on my Windows VM.
    Thanks,
    JimD,

    Hi Jim,

You are using Parallels Desktop Enterprise edition which is valid for 1 year and you have to renew the license every year.
Please submit a Support request as suggested at http://kb.parallels.com/6571

Checked with our software licensing people. The license hasn't expired.

She opened up a case and then it was escalated to level 2.

The solution that worked was to deactivate the current license on my computer, then start Parallels again and reactivate using my current Activation Code.

They had me use the Parallels Command Line Tool "prlsrvctl". Evidently there are 2 command line tools installed automatically during installation. This one manages Parallels itself and the other one "prlctl" manages the VMs. There is in fact a user's guide on them at the following link.

    Subject: [Parallels #] License Expired

    Hello,

Your case is now being handled by the second level of Parallels support.

Please follow these steps to reactivate your Parallels Desktop Enterprise copy:

    Quit Parallels Desktop.

Open Terminal. You can find in the following folder:

    Applications > Utilities > Terminal

Alternatively, you can type Terminal in Spotlight to find it.

Run the command below to remove the current license:

    prlsrvctl deactivate-license

Start Parallels Desktop and proceed with activation.

Let me know in case of any additional questions.
