Default Qmail - Plesk 6 and Outgoing Spam

    Hi !

It is very strange that in Plesk 6 we are contineously facing the problem of outgoing spam, though in the older versions these exploits were not present, are you also facing the same problem ??. Any suggestions ?? to finally BLOCK the outgoing spam ??

    Regards

There is no exploit in Plesk 6 that allows outgoing spam. Most likely there is a local user. Check the qmail whitelists also.

Surprisingly there is no local user that could be causing this, moreover there is no Ip in the white list.

Can you please tell what all ports on the server should be open and what all should be closed ?? earlier we had http-proxy open I closed it but still the problem presists ...

    Please advice
    Regards

It should be at least 127.0.0.1 in the IP white list. You need the following ports opened:
    21/tcp open ftp
    22/tcp open ssh
    25/tcp open smtp
    80/tcp open http
    110/tcp open pop-3
    143/tcp open imap2
    443/tcp open https
    465/tcp open smtps
    993/tcp open imaps
    995/tcp open pop3s
    3306/tcp open mysql
    8443

    Thanks a lot,

    Any command other than
    iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -s 0/0 -d 0/0 --dport portnumber -j DROP

to close the port ??. Since this is putting a filter on the port and when the server is rebooted this IP table rule goes away too !
    I am on RH9 Plesek 6.02

After you make modifications to iptables, save the config with iptables-save > /etc/sysconfig/iptables. This will save the config and after reboot it will be loaded by iptables.

But when I use the above given command, the nmap shows that the port is filtered but it does not show that the specified port is closed... any idea ??.. Thanks for that iptable information

The filtered state is normal for the rule you use.
