I am trying to install the linux transporter (parallels-transporter-3844.408728.run) on a linux box running CentOS ??. It gets past the license page, but as it is starting to install it gives the message that an error has occurred and to check /var/log/parallels-transporter-install.log for more information. Doing so yields the following information:

    [root@mx1 log]# more /var/log/parallels-transporter-install.log
    2009-08-20T12:37:59-0700:

I am guessing the error with the "installer-cli", but I do not know what the problem is or where to go from here.

The uname on the machine in question yields"

    [root@mx1 log]# uname -a
    Linux mx1 2.4.21-47.ELsmp #1 SMP Tue Aug 1 08:47:53 EDT 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hi, Mike

I'm not sure but linux kernel 2.4 is not supported.
I will try to check my suggestion in the next few days.

Starting at which kernel revision is linux supported?

    Stuw,

Thanks for the heads up on the revision number. I am a relative newbie on linux specifically, though I go back to the early '90's on Unix. Guess I will need to look for a program which can do a local imaging of the disk into a file which can be transported or try to rebuild the specific linux VM inside of Parallels.

    Mike,

Please try an older version of Parallels Transporter.
    It's available at http://download.parallels.com/v3/en/GA/Parallels-tsp-3.0.1456-lin.run (http://download.parallels.com/v3/en/GA/Parallels-Tsp-3.0.1456-Win.exe for windows).

If installation will be succeeded you'll be able to migrate your linux machine locally. In case you have no enough free space for local migration you will be needed to install Parallels Transporter 3.0.1456 on another machine (windows or linux) and use network migration.

Important: Parallels Transporter Agent and Parallels Transporter Client must have equal versions for correct communication.

    WBR,
    Stuw
