I run the VMware vSphere client in a Windows XP VM to control ESX servers from my Mac. When using the console of a VM in the vSphere client, you have to hit ctrl-alt to release the cursor from the VM. That also releases from Parallels, or when in full screen mode it makes the Parallels window come up across the top. It never sends that keystroke to the VM. In version 4 it did.

So now the focus in my entire Windows VM is stuck in the console of the ESX VM.

Unfortunately...vSphere is about 75% of what I use Parallels for, and it's now useless after buying the upgrade. There is no option in Parallels to send keys ctrl-alt either.

Anyone know of a way to send ctrl-alt to a Windows VM?

To be able to send Ctrl+Alt shortcut to Windows VM, do the following:
    1. Go to the Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse dialog of Parallels Desktop.
    2. Change the key sequence for "Release input" from Ctrl+Alt to any other

Ah I didn't see that option. I changed it and now I'm set. Thanks!

Unfortunately, under Parallels 8 this appears to no longer work. The "Release Input" is now found under Preferences -> Shortcuts -> Application Shortcuts, but Release Input is greyed out and cannot be changed (or turned off).
