Mac OSX Hangs/Crashes using Parallels Desktop 5
Well it's a strange problem that I am encountering... I believe parallels crashes my mac as it only happens when my Mac is running a parallels Guest OS.
It's a very intermittent problem but I can tell when it's about to happen as the machine suddenly starts slowing down and becoming less responsive then all of a sudden it just dies on me! Sometimes this happens when I open more than one machine at a time.
I am running the latest software versions of parallels and Mac OSX, my macbook pro has 4gb RAM and is the 2.93 17inch version running a 7200 RPM hdd.
Is there any logs or anything that would show that the system crashed? Occasionally I get the turn off page error but more often than not the Mac just freezes and dies. And only a power off and power on will work...
Please help me!!!
Thanks

It is parallels that crashes my mac but not sure what is causing it as I said it appears to maybe a memory problem but it should go to the hdd if it runs out of memory, similar to windows virtual memory?
Is there any logs that I can read find just before it crashes?

Parallels Team
Hi EdsonS,
can you please send us problem report via Help > Report a problem (at the moment when VM is slowing down or after crash if GUI is still active) and post its ID here? This would be very helpful.

Ok will do at the moment it hasn't occurred but when the session crashes my mac the whole Mac OSX becomes unresponsive and then just dies. The screen is still on at the current view but the machine just doesn't respond. I appears to have crashed just now but the machine didn't freeze up but it automatically did generate a report... This doesn't appear to be related but here is the number just in case anyway. But the id 2025669

Could it also be overheating for it to crash? I have downloaded a fre tool called fan control. Since having it installed and running it hasn't crashed the osx at all. So it could be heat related... I am also using a monitor called temperature monitor to show me the cpu temp. Worth a look if you're experiencing random complete crashes...

Machine just died on me now! Unfortunately couldn't get a report done as the whole mac book died and became unresponsive. Although the fans were still working away! I logged back in and sent the report id 2067060 hope that helps

Just found similarities... It appears to happen when I restart the virtual machine and it's rebooting...

Hi EdsonS,
it appears to be an issue with MacFUSE. Please update MacFuse to beta version 2.1.5 (you currently have 2.0.3) over System Preferences > MacFUSE > Check for Updates. Select Show Beta Versions checkbox before.

Ok
Have updated the software but because this is a beta software surely that is not advisable as yet? As curing this problem with a beta release may cause other problems? I will apply the recommendation so please bare with me if I don't reply for a while but I will come back with my findings.
Thanks for the quick responses.

Completely removed parallels from my machine and appear to be fine for a while and hasn't given me any kernel errors at all, and have been running for about 24 hours. So it does appear to be parallels causing some conflicts with other software or causing kernel panic errors?
Have decided to trial VMWare also to see if this causes the kernel panic errors as I really need to use my virtual machines for testing and developing on. If parallels is the cause am I able to get a solution/refund for purchasing the software?
Thanks
