I continue to have this problem where my XP SP3 bootcamp partition refuses to boot with parallels 4 or 5 failing with BSOD 0x0000007b. It works fine via bootcamp, and it worked fine in Parallels 3, which, unfortunately I can't run anymore after upgrading to 10.6.2. I've tried every suggested solution here I could find including: mergeide.reg, deleting parallels registry keys, uninstalling parallels tools, installing parallels tools via bootcamp, changing IDE/SCSI device addresses in VM configuration, ensuring only 1 processor active, ensuring < 1024MB memory allocated, etc, etc. When booting in safe mode, the BSOD occurs just after mup.sys, which seems to indicate some sort of device naming problem. Another thing to note: this disk is > 128MB in size and the bootcamp partition is near the end (#3):

    Disk: /dev/rdisk0 geometry: 38913/255/63 [625142448 sectors]

    Could this be related?

I created problem report 2942732 using build 9310.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

The $50 I spent on upgrading to Parallels 4 is basically wasted. I would happily pay $50 for parallels 5 if it actually worked.

    Thanks in advance!
