Parallels removing posts? I can't believe I am about to suggest this, but I think Parallels is moderating posts on this forum. Yesterday, I started a thread about me rolling back to 2.5 from 3.0. Others joined in with their experiences also. Today, I can't find the thread. Not in this forum and not even if I use to member list to search for all of my posts. Has anyone seen this before? Did parallels remove the post because it was critical of their products? |

They probably deleted your post because the latest update makes it mostly irrelevant because it fixes most of the problems that would create a need to downgrade. |

John: Legally, yes you're right, they can do whatever they want. But removing posts because it may contain something they don't like goes against the spirit of support forum. By that logic, there would never be any posts in the forums. Just messages saying "Everyting's A OK!" Brkich: I haven't seen one piece of documentation saying what was fixed in that release. Frankly, i'm getting a little tired of playing musical releases. That was the point of my original post. That may be the way this forum works, but from what I can tell, I didn't violate any of the rules of this forums. I didn't post porn, illegal content or use foul language. I simply echoed something that many, many other users have said on this very forum. I can assure you, as a company that sells products, Parallels does not want to be seen as censoring their users. If the last few years have taught use anything, it's that a company can should participate in the discussion with its users, not try to control it. |

I was one of the posters in the censored thread from yesterday. I wrote up my process and experience in rolling back to 2.5 from 3.0. I do find it distressing that the thread was removed. It's not really a secret that there have been problems with 3.0, so I don't know why providing experiences on rolling back to a stable version would be removed. I have checked out the link that brkirch provided and do indeed see a new build available. However, I cannot find any information about this build or what it contains. Based on my previous 3.0 experience, I am not going to download and re-install 3.0 until information is available on the stability and what features/bugfixes are in the new release. Until then, I'll stick with 2.5. Shepherdboy |

Searching for a thread & finding a different one is all well & good. However, what happened to gcaprio's original thread? Is this some sort of bait & switch? I'm interested in what issues they were having & how the Parallels Team decided to resolve it. To say that the new release fixes all problems & therefore all previous posts having those problems can be removed is a bit ridiculous... Not everyone checks the Parallels forums/site every day looking for updates or even uses the in-app updater. Not to mention short-sighted, as I assume from the top couple of posts, people are still having problems w/ the latest build & knowing the process to downgrade is still useful. To have someone spend their time and write out a process for everyone to see is good, but I wonder if that user will bother to spend their time helping everyone out again, knowing that it might just be indiscriminately erased. I suppose the fallback for all of this is you can say, "This forum is not accessible via the main site, so no 'official' support is given" or whatever. However, building a great product is no excuse for poor support nor marketing techniques that contradict customer support. -Me |
