Anyone get Netflix "Watch Now" to work?
I can't get Netflix's new "Watch Now" feature to work in my Parallels XP VM:

Quote:
Windows Media Player has experienced an error. Please close your browser and try again.

If the problem persists, please contact technical support with the following error code:

WMPError(C00D11B1, Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file. For additional assistance, click Web Help.)
This is IE7 + WMP 11. I got the same result with WMP 9, and thought upgrading to WMP 11 might help. It didn't. Has anyone else had better luck with it?

thanks!

Same problem for me
I'm having the exact same problem with the exact same configuration.

A web search for that error number seems to imply it has something to do with DRM and audio drivers. So this would seem to be a problem with Parallel's audio drivers.

Any help?

Me too....
I'm seeing the same thing. Parallels, any ideas of how to support the DRM in Netflix Watch Now? I'd be very interested in this.

Resolved!!!!
I contacted Netflix and got a solution for running in Parallels. Here it is.

Uninstall Windows Media Player, Window Media Format runtime environments and Netflix Movie Player completely.

If you are running Windows Media Player 10 or lower, please skip to step 10 to uninstall the Netflix Movie Player.

1.) Go to the Start Menu
2.) Click on Control Panel
3.) Click on Add or Remove Programs
4.) Uninstall Windows Media Player 11
5.) Restart Computer
6.) Uninstall Windows Media Format 11 Runtime
7.) Restart Computer
8.) Uninstall Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.0
9.) Restart Computer
10.) Uninstall Netflix Movie Player
11.) Restart Computer

Locate and rename the DRM folder.

12.) Open My Computer
13.) Click Tools, then Folder Options
14.) From the Folder Options window, click the View tab, and select the Show hidden files and folders button
15.) Next, uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) box
16.) Click OK
17.) Open My Computer
18.) Open the C: drive
19.) Open the Documents and Settings folder
20.) Open the All Users folder
21.) Right-click the DRM folder and select Rename (Please rename to RMD)

Download and reinstall Windows Media Player

22.) Visit http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...1/default.aspx to reinstall Windows Media Player.
23.) Restart computer.
24.) Windows media Security component upgrade: http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/...en/indivit.asp

You will need to reinstall the Netflix Movie Player when you try to watch another movie.

Should work now (does for me).

The only issue I've noticed is that it's more pixelated than running windows natively. I'm not sure why this is yet.

Message I recieved from Netflix!!!
Thank you for contacting us about your error message C00D11B1. After a
bit of research we found that this error generally appears when the DRM
folder cannot be found. The best resolution is to set WMP to manually
acquire licenses:

1. Launch Windows Media Player
2. From the Tools menu, select Options
3. Select the Privacy tab
4. Deselect the option ?Download usage rights automatically when I play
or sync a file?

Gregz99jlk4's solution works for me, too.

For the record, jbaile07's by itself did not. That's what Netflix told me to do too but I had to follow all of Gregz's steps.

Thanks everybody!

Rename 'DRM' Folder
I was able to get it to work by simply renaming the DRM folder without the other steps.

It might be worth trying that if you are having this problem. My system is XP Pro.

it worked .. but at first I couldn't find the DRM folder.
Netflix sent this info, which did the job.

First, disable automatic license acquisition in Windows Media Player:

1. Open Windows Media Player
2. Select tools, then Options
3. Select Privacy and deselect Download usage rights automatically when I play or sync a file

Next, rename the DRM Folder:

1. Open My Computer
2. Click Tools, then Folder Options
3. From the Folder Options window, click the View tab, and select the Show hidden files and folders button
4. Next, uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) box
5. Click OK
6. Open My Computer
7. Open the C: drive
8. Open the Documents and Settings folder
9. Open the All Users folder
10. Right-click the DRM folder and select rename
11. Enter a new name for the folder (i.e. Old_DRM)
12. Restart computer

This will force Windows Media Player to acquire a new license file, which should then be handled properly.

Hey, I tried everything that has been suggested here. There has been some progress; I don't seem to get that error message anymore. What happens now when I try to play a movie is this:

it goes to the page with the red screen, loads, then nothing happens for a few seconds. Then a window comes up saying I need to download some Windows Media Player component to watch the movie. I let it download, and then another window comes up saying it doesn't have the license to watch it, and it asks me if I want to go to a website to download the license.

I click OK, and a Netflix window says that it's downloading and that I should click "Play" when the option appears below. However, even after I wait for a long time, the Play button is still grayed out and I can't select it. In addition, every time I go through this process, the DRM folder is generated anew, so that I have a DRM file in addition to an RMD/Old_DRM folder. What should I try now? I ran Windows Update and downloaded everything. Thanks for your help.
