Hi I am running Windows 7 as the guest OS under Snow Leopard 10.6.2 using Parallels 5.0. I would like to share the VPN connection created under the host OS. I am using the built-in Snow Leopard VPN client connecting to a Cisco VPN conc. The VPN works fine under OS X but when I open the Windows 7 virtual machine it is not able to access he VPN connection. I have tried changing the guest OS network device options under Parallels from shared, to bridged and all combinations of internal network interfaces - but so far no luck. Has anyone else got this sort of a setup to work? Many thanks Sean
Hoorah. It's working!! Hmmm... not exactly sure what I changed between yesterday and today, but I'm happy to report that the host VPN is now accessible from within Windows 7 on either a Ethernet or WiFi connection. Happy days.
What are your settings? Man I'm going nuts.. I have Mac OS connected /w Cisco VPN, then in Parallels Desktop /w Windows 7 I have tried changing the Network settings to Bridge, Host, vnic 0, vnic 1, adn still have no luck. Does win 7 need to be shutdown before starting the VPN, and do I need to know the correct adapter to pick? Any Ideas?
Are you using Snow Leopard VPN connection or Cisco VPN client at Mac OS X host? Or some other VPN client? It is turned out (just after Sean's post) that there is one more thing that can be improved in Parallels Desktop 5.0 to make support of VPN-connection established at host work. This improvement should be made in next update of Parallels Destkop. Let me know what VPN you are using, I'll post some steps to make it work Only Shared Networking is supposed to work. Please switch to Shared Nope, it is not required
