fusion still not working
Just a quick comment regarding support for Logitech Fusion. After installing the latest drivers and enabling the device I was able to see the webcam work - for about 5 seconds before Windows blue screened! Is this a Windows or Parallels issue? The camera/driver works fine on the standard PC.

I'm STILL getting the "mouse drift to bottom right" problem after entering coherence mode, or changing screen resolution in a running VM. I'm running a Core 2 Duo iMac with a bluetooth Mighty Mouse, but the problem seems to affect USB mice as well. The only resolution is a reboot.

Great work, but this is still a showstopper for me, unfortunately.

@timd: I have the mouse-to-bottom-right-corner problem, too, but if I just move the mouse around until the cursor reaches the bottom corner, I'm able to start using it. So, no reboot is required.

Back to being able to start the Boot Camp but also...
copied driver.cab and sp2.cab to my windows install

back to my original error:

error loading operating system

Except this time I get a nice "don't attempt anything" alert to help cause me panic ;-)

Parallels - vista - bootcamp
Why parallels Team does not answer to all questions about booting from vista bootcamp ?

We would like to know if the final release will support booting from vista bootcamp harddisk !

Thanks to answer.

Treo sync still broken
Phooey, I was hoping this USB-fix-heavy release would do the trick, but no luck. When I hit the hotsync button on the Treo connector, XP sees the device (I hear the "new device" sound effect) but the hotsync manager doesn't fire up. Works fine in build 1970. This is on a C2D MBP with 3GB RAM.

That's the only bug I have to report, though. Looking great otherwise.

Shared Parallels Folder Inaccessible
After installing 3120 and reloading previous XP VM, I can't use shared folders anymore. The desktop shortcut gives a "\\.psf is not accessible" error, and the network places shortcuts ask for a password.

I have already uninstalled/reinstalled parallels tools and restarted VM (and mac) but it didn't fix the problem.

(sidenote: while complaining, I thought I'd also thank you guys for fixing the clipboard sync... works perfectly now in this RC)

More than one Windows partitions still not supported also with 3120 RC1
I am also quite dissapointed about the priority of Parralles how the two windows partition issue is treated. At least a statement would be good if this will be supported or not...

technical documentation was posted from me here about my configuration...

http://forum.parallels.com/post35973-112.html

I could also not imagine that this is a hard issue to be solved...we will see someday...

BillInSoBe,

Actually, it is fixed though not announced. When you're in VM catalogue, highlight the VM you need, press and hold Command and click Select.

The VM configuration will open but will not autostart.

Best regards,
Tim

ajcooper,

Most probably you have Logitech software version 10.4 or 10.5 installed. Try uninstalling it and installing the software that comes with the CD without letting it update through the web.

Best regards,
Tim

Tim,

As far as I know, Fusion needs 10.4 or 10.5 to function. The only other version I have is 8.xx which the camera won't install. Trying to download 9.5 to see if that will work.

Million dollar question - when can we expect support for the 10.5 drivers?

Our Fusion came with 10.0 drivers on the CD and works flawlessly with them. We were testing with both 10.4 and 10.5 as well - they BSOD like for you. We're working hard on the fix...

Rumours are, a competitor has implemented this feature already?! ;)
Yeah I saw these rumors in action - great job for competition :) iSight support is being worked on as well, just wait a bit...

Tim,

any information relevant to the "boot camp" option grayed out?
It is still not avaiable in this build (for me at least...)

In my case, I use an MBR style partition table (see below). I guess what puzzles most of us is how more complicated is to access a partition (any partition) as raw, instead of a file? At some point, you must have a virtual to physical mapping layer, that targets a file, or the bootcamp partition. Can that be made partition schema aware, and allow to choose which one to use? I think that all the people whio have this need are sophisticated enought to have created multiple partitions (typically to create a fat32 "shared" disk s, or to run linux, and we would not complain if there's no UI to select the partition, we would be happy manually changing the configuration file.

Thanks
Alessandro

P.S
Here is the layout, the last two partition are created as logical volumes on an extended partition (dear old MBR tricks)

diskutil list
/dev/disk0
#: type name size identifier
0: FDisk_partition_scheme *149.1 GB disk0
1: Apple_HFS MACOSX 60.0 GB disk0s1
2: Windows_NTFS WINXP 19.5 GB disk0s2
3: Windows_NTFS VISTA 19.5 GB disk0s3
4: DOS_FAT_32 SWAP 3.9 GB disk0s5
5: Windows_NTFS DATA 46.1 GB disk0s6

Please, just let us choose a volume to boot from!

I completely agree. Parallels won't recognize my separate Windows hard driver either.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
would the devs just post something on this problem. I've read the threads for the RC and last 2 betas since the Boot Camp booting became available and at first they asked for some partition listings, but to my knowledge have since never responded at all with anything on the topic. Anything would suffice for now:
"We're aware of the problem and are working on it."
"There is a specific technical reason why we can't let the user choose a partition for Parallels to attempt to boot from." (optional: "And the reason is...")

Please.

Have you sent this note to beta@parallesl.com?

I've been struggling with this also. You need to put a blurb on that screen that says to the effect:
"To make changes to this VM setup command key and click "select"."

A simple "edit VM setting" would be better.

And Tim, you forgot to use a quote there about what this is about.

Thanks for the beta.

The only time you get the VM Catalog is if you have more then 1 VM, correct? If that's the case then your only VM would start before you had a chance to do this.

It would be much easier if we could select EDIT / Virtual Machine any time to make changes which would be applied next restart.

Having to COMMAND Click, etc. isn't very user friendly.

Since I currently have multiple VMs I do see the Catalog when I start so I can modify settings now, however I generally only run with 1 VM.

Latest beta broke my Cisco VPN Client
Guys, awesome tool. This is the first hitch I've run into.

I installed the update while I was connected via VPN thru Cisco VPN. I'm on Mac Pro Intel. I uninstalled Parallels and everything worked fine once again.

Will give it a try without VPN running and see what happens.

Cheers!

I've seen this problem with every build following an installation of Parallels. I've suspected it has to do with loading order of VPN and Parallels. It was cured every time by shutting down and restarting VPN. This was necessary with 3120, too. I'm using the Mac VPN client, not the Windows version.

I am running windows xp service pack 2 and the RC1 candidate. This has release has taken my MacBook 2 GHz with 2 GB RAM hostage. I am seeing the RAM usage creep up during usage and the biggest problem is that it takes over any where from 40-60% of the CPU usage. My MacBook sometimes acts like it is hung because there is so little CPU. This occurs with Parallels in the background. I am thinking I want to go back to the previous beta release!
