Work around for BAD POOL HEADER

I worked around the problem by (1) booting Windows into Safe Mode with Networking (use Apple-F8 immediately on boot to get to the boot selector menu), and (2) doing the Install Parallel's Tools at that point.

Then reboot & life was good for me :) . I also had to do this with the previous release.

Enjoy!

Updated to 3150 from 3120. No problems so far.

I continue to have network issues with wireless - msn messenger disconnects every few minutes, and ipconfig reports a new IP address quite often - is this Parallels or the Apple drivers?

Nice job!
I downloaded Yahoo! messenger 8.1 in XP just to make sure that I downloaded those isight drivers right. My isight is working perfectly in 3150.

Everything else I run is as smoothly as a baby's butt in 3150 so far.

What's that smell? Could it be the smell of the final release of version 2.5 coming very soon???? :D

Think I've resolved it - it was windows.

Changed a few things in the network settings - turned off "register this computer in DNS", etc and I've held the same IP for the last 8 hours.

Linux tools
WOW I am so impressed with how parallels is making OS X and Windows like one integrated OS. Parallels has made buying a MacBook worth it in many regards. I used the transporter tool to move a copy of XP off of an older laptop. I was so impressed when I opened the VM and there was XP, just like it was on the laptop AND it had all the drivers it needed as well. It really is very cool. I don't normally comment or login to forums, but this technology has been pretty exciting to me.

I hope you can do something this cool with Linux tools. I don't know how popular it is, but I know it is important to me now. The only reasons I use XP or OS X is because of some website or software requires them. The 2.6.20 kernel is suppose to have more video support, I hope that means a good selection of web cams will work with it.

PLEASE:: L I N U X T O O L S

WHERE ARE THE STANKIN SPANKIN LINUX TOOLS?! :-)

The transporter agent thing was a bit confusing, I ended up copying the XP hard drive image into a Parallels VM with a xp.hdd file inside of it. I guess the agent on the XP laptop made the .hdd file, then I somehow did it again when I got transporter from the MacBook to see the agent on the XP laptop.

RC2 works great, speed increase, better graphics, but one problem.....I tried installing drivers for iSight and no matter how I try, drag and drop drivers or burn cd and install I get an error window saying "This software is not compatible with your hardware. I have a MacBook Pro, 2.0 Gig, 2 Gig RAM, !00 gig HD, Not running a Bootcamp Drive. Pleas help, need driver for iSight to use Comcast video mail.

install was smooth
Just upgraded over version 3120... (or whatever the release just prior to RC1 was)
Just ran the installer chose upgrade.. After which I rebooted mac osX (just for precautions), then restarted the VM (which is using my bootcamp partition windows xp sp2) and allowed it to upgrade parallel tools.. Everything seems working fine..

Tried the isight for giggles and it worked..

Friendly suggestion:

Can we please start new threads for each new 3150 topic? It is rather difficult to follow this one thread for every 3150 related topic. Thanks!

iSight under Windows Vista
Hi.

I just upgraded my installation of Parallels to build 3150 to see if I could get my iMac iSight working under Windows Vista Ultimate. The iSight XP boot camp driver is installed, and everything look good in the Device Manager. However, when I try to run the "Windows Live Messenger" "Audio and video setup", selecting the "Built-in iSight", I get the following message:

"Windows cannot connect to this webcam. Close any program that may be using this webcam and restart this wizard"

That's on a clean install of Vista with only "Parallels Tools" and "AVG Antivirus FREE" installed. Stopping the AV didn't help.

Any idea on how I could get that to work?

Pointer Bug in Coherence
Just noticed a display bug with the pointer in coherence (R2 3150). Not sure if this was there in RC1.

Steps to reproduce.

1. Click and hold down the mouse on the title bar of a windows window in coherence mode.
2. Move the mouse up (drag the window), but fast.

When the mouse gets over the OSX desktop before the "windows" window has caught up to where its supposed to be and thinks (i assume because of how you are handling the Win->OSX drag drop) that a drag operation is starting. The pointer switches to the osx copy pointer and stays that way (even after mouse up) until the mouse positioned outside a "non-coherence" window.

Ill email this to beta@parallels.com as well.

Thx

Unexpected quit

Memory leak appears fixed but I just had Build 3150 unexpectedly quit on me (running XP). This was an issue that plagued me with Build 3120:

Thanks Parallels Team, great job. So far it's all been stable. A couple minor issues which I'll send off the the beta address, but this is really looking pretty good.

Please pardon my density, but what exactly does the following mean?

"Windows 98 does not restart if the process is initiated within guest OS. You should manually restart it."

Does this have anything to do with the fact that Windows 98 freezes on my Mac Pro when I try to restart or shutdown Windows 98? Is there a workaround?

Thanx.

No - it just doesn't restart virtual machine. You should do it manually by pressing restart button on toolbar.

Okay, assuming you mean the reset button, I get it. Thanks. Hopefully this will be fixed at some point.

No problems with Win XP which I mainly use, but I like to keep Win 98 around for certain older apps.

Blue Screen With Logitech Quickcam
My Logitech Quickcam for Notebooks Pro works great for about 20 seconds then bluescreen. Happens every time. I would love to be able to use it with MSN messenger.

It is known issue with latest logitech drivers from their site. It should work with older drivers which is on in package CD.

Really??? RC1 was able to utilize the Boot Camp partition on my second hard drive without any problems. Why was it working for me?
