BAD_POOL_HEADER Blue Screen of Death -- fix found
Moved from "Parallels Desktop for Mac"

Hi All,

A short time ago, I attempted to run the Parallels Compressor on my VM. I went to another job and when I returned, I saw that the VM had stopped and was endlessly rebooting then crashing with the Blue Screen of Death. After several cycles, I was able to make out the error: BAD_POOL_HEADER. I did some searching around and found the following on another forum (http://www.techguy.com). Since I was able to boot into Safe Mode, I gave it a try and it worked! I am vastly relieved.

Cheers!

Mark

Thanks for your help. A friend of mine told me he had the same problem and sent me to this page

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];q314060

which had the following steps;

1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
2. Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
3. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
4. Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
5. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
6. Quit Registry Editor.NOTE: After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value, if you notice lost functionality in a particular program, such as CD recording software, you may need to reinstall that software. If the problem recurs, consult with the software vendor for assistance.

7. Restart your computer.

This fixed the problem and I was able to do this from the "safe" mode.

These instructions worked fine for me
My symptoms:
insert writable media into DVD/CD burner
System reboots after posting a BSOD with "Bad_pool_header" as the culprit

I followed these Reg edit instructions and my problem was solved (partially):
As the author stated some CD/DVD software may be compromised in the process and as it turned out freak'n iTunes ability of burn CDs was affected.

I'm going to reinstall Itunes and see if things get fixed.

Followup to above problem
Reinstall of itunes did not work. Had to replace the GearSoftware Drivers that Itunes needed:

Now I'm up and running!
