reinstalling Parallels 3.0 build 56
I had parallels (PD) 3.0 installed, then tried PD 4.0.After a few days I decided to go back to PD 3.0,I had to reinstall PD 3.0,but when I get to the installation, the blue line starts, goes about two millimeters then a small window opens and tells me to uninstall PD Server first.I have used the uninstall on the backup disk(I bought it online from Parallels) and searched through OSX 10.5.6,I have used spotlight to search, searched myself in Applications/Library and found four PD packages in Applications/Library/Receipts still hanging around from the PD 4.0 trial removed them and when I still click on uninstall PD,it tells me Parallels is not installed on my computer .BUT it will not let me reinstall PD 3.0 until I uninstall Parallels Server. So where do I go to find Parallels Server on my computer, and how do I remove it ?
A Macbook Pro with Leopard 10.5.6.

koolewong,

Please run the following commands in Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal:

sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/prl_hid_hook.kext
sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/prl_hypervisor.kext
sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/prl_usb_connect.kext
sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/prl_vnic.kext
sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/prl_netbridge.kext

This will delete some files that are preventing Parallels Desktop 3 installation. Be extra sure, that you are typing the commands exactly as written above, to avoid deleting anything besides those files. If asked for a password, type your administrator password. You will not see the letters, it is correct behaviour.
