I've newly installed Parallels 3.0 and Windows XP home on MacBook Pro, Leopard 10.5.2. After running P only a few times the VM is suspended and when I try to start it I am getting the message 'winxp.hdd is used by other application'. I have no other applications running. I have tried the 'unlock' fix in Terminal but confess that as a newbie I am out of my depth.

    Hello Bardic,

Please check if there is a hidden lock file inside the HDD package. To find out if there is a lock file run this command in Terminal (Application / Utilities):

    ls -la "~/Documents/Parallels/<Your VM folder>/<Your .hdd name>.hdd/"

If you will see the .DiskDescriptor.xml.lock file in the output, run the following command:

    rm "~/Documents/Parallels/<Your VM folder>/<Your .hdd name>.hdd/.DiskDescriptor.xml.lock"

    Best regards,
    Xenos
