Unrecognized Ethernet Controller in Windows Vista
Hi,

I am new to this. I installed Parallels yesterday on a MacBook Pro 2.4 Intel Core 2 Duo with Max OS X 10.5.3 with Windows Vista Ultimate as a guest OS.

I can't get networking to work on Vista.

In Parallels, I have the network adapter set to 'Shared Networking'.

I do see the Parallels-Guest and Parallels NAT in "System Preferences-Network" with both configured to use DHCP.

In Windows Vista, I don't see any network adapter. In Device Manager, I see that the device drivers for the Ethernet Controller have not been installed. Not sure why.

Any suggestions? This may have been discussed in the past, but I couldn't find anything searching the forums.

Thanks in advance.

Realtek
A followup to my earlier post.

In the Parallels Configuration Editor - Network Adapter, I see Adapter Type set to Realtek 8029 (AS). Perhaps Vista has no drivers for this?

Yes, you need to install them from vmtools .iso manually, click install Parallels Tools, but do not.
Navigate iso mounted in Vm, and you will found network driver

Hi John,

I was able to get it working by installing an XP driver for realtek on the Vista VM.

Thanks
