DVD Loading/Burning Issue

DVD Loading/Burning Issue Equipment: IMac with parallels 3.0 build 5608 and WinXP SP3; also installed Nero 8. Problem: CD/DVD drive within parallels will not recognize a blank DVD. I insert DVD and it is ejected after about 10 seconds. I tried several different DVD's (same mfgr) thinking it was a bad DVD, but no change. DVD movies play with no problem in Parallels. I don't have a problem with blank DVD's under the MAC OS environment. I ran Nero info tool and the drive is indicated to have both DVD-R and DVD+R writing capability. Any suggestions for a fix?
