This aplication runs without problem when run under BootCamp. Any idea what the problem might be?
Direct video card access is not supported in any virtualization software. You'll need to run BootCamp for 3D since BootCamp is not virtualization software.

...however it is possible with Vanderpool (and AMD's equivalent) processor level extensions.

Drag and Drop
When I try to drag a document from Notes onto the desktop it LOOKS like it wants to work, i.e. the mac + sign comes up but the file doesnt get copied anywhere, either in windows or to the mac desktop.

better dual head experience ?
I run a iMac with an additional monitor. I have so that the VM is full screen on the second monitor.

Now with Coherence I can put my Mac and Windows apps on the second monitor (which is nice). But I cannot put Windows apps onto the primary display. Anyway to make that happen ?

Thanks !

for some reason that new coherence mode doesn't work here, and i use windows-xp (sp2). the button is there but when i have an open app in xp and press that button nothing happens.

also the drag & drop feature doesn't work. i try to drag a file over from osx desktop into windows, doesn't work.

in bootcamp my macdrive application runs fine and i can access the osx partition and its files without a problem. when running parallels macdrive doesnt work and i cant access my osx files. what's the best solution then to get to the files?

the resize windows thing doesnt work either. it doesnt adjust the resolution.

not sure if i'm doing something wrong, i tried to find settings, but so far i dont know why this is happening.

Parallels installer doesn't recognize Boot Camp
Well, I have a Boot Camp partition (NTFS), and I have booted into XP on it and installed the Parallels Tools for Boot Camp, which went fine.

Then I went to create a new VM using the Boot Camp partition. It doesn't even recognize Boot Camp as a valid option. (See attachment.)

I am thinking it might be that I do not have the Boot Camp software installed on this copy of OS X. I installed Boot Camp months ago, then just last week re-installed the Mac OS. As the Boot Camp version of Windows still works fine, I never bothered to re-install Boot Camp on the OS X side. So just to test, I am downloading Boot Camp again right now.

Mediafour MacDrive
Will it be possible to use for example MediaFours MacDrive 6 to access my Mac/HFS+ partitions from a "boot camp loaded" virtual machine?

As of now the Mac partitions seem to be invisible to MacDrive in Parallels.

is /dev/disk0s3 really that hard?
I've been waiting many months for the ability to boot parallels vms from hard drive partitions, and now I found that it's limited to specifically bootcamp'd partitions. :(
It won't even recognize my current xp bootcamp'd parttion because I have a 3rd partition on the hard drive (4th really, counting the efi partition).

I guess my question is:
Is it _really_ _that_ hard to get from where you are now with the hard drive partition booting to just being able to specify '/dev/disk0s3' or some such in the vm config? Why must you guys always force these silly pointless limitations? I can understand you're trying to cater for a fairly un-tech savvy crowd migrating from a braindead OS, but is that really any excuse to be lax on your implementation? Surely manually specifying a partition somewhere under some advanced config option wouldn't hinder the experience for those who need a bouncing ball to follow, and would be practically 0 new lines of code (I assume you access the bootcamp partition using the standard devices already? I would hope you do anyway..)

Everytime I get excited by some progress with your product, I'm instantly dismayed once I see how the progress has been implemented. This update is no different.

So close too.. and yet still so frustrated.

-Edit-

Don't get me wrong, I've watched parallels come a long way and I'm sure it was alot of hard work and I can see much potential for it. I just really hope you don't fall into these stupid mindsets regarding the interface that end up needlessly crippling the product like sooo many almost-greats have.

You're trying to run a 3D game withing parallels, of course it wont run.
Thats supposed to be one of the features we'll get in the hopefully near future and will enable gaming from a VM

I have the same problem with the windows activation thing. I did for sure install the parelles for boot camp stuff first and in boot camp. Then I came back to mac, created a virtual machine for parallels and got the message with each boot. The first time I booted I had the mouse problem, but then I did a force shutdown and the next boot everything is fine, and I also installed the parelles tools.

any ideas.

IMPRORTANT! You need to boot in your Windows XP natively through Boot Camp and install Parallels Tools for Boot Camp package in it before your first boot in Parallels Desktop for Mac.
NOTE! It is not possible to suspend Virtual Machine connected to Boot Camp for integrity reasons.
What's the difference between those 2 features????

Eeeeeh Right.

So I fixed the FAT32 issue..... Now my XP wants me to reactivate...... And I am through my number of allowed reinstalls.....

Before I reactivate, Is it possible to switch between bootcamp & parallel's without having to re-activate?

You have 2 options:
1. Convert your FAT32 o NTFS
2. Wait for the good guys to fix the FAT32 bug.

P.s. Please let me know if you also have the activation issue once you get to that point .... .......

Hi guys.

A couple of problems so far.
1. At first I thought my old Windows XP Virtual Machine would not suspend or shut down but then I realized that the old "Suspend" button is now a "Pause" button.
2. For some reason, after going through all the setup steps to use my Boot Camp partition as the boot partition under Parallels, I get a message "Unable to open disk image Boot Camp!"
3. I can no longer use my Apple Bluetooth keyboard with Windows under Boot Camp. I tried deleting the keyboard from Bluetooth and then adding it back, and that worked until I rebooted, at which time the Bluetooth Keyboard was lost again. Also, because of the changes made to the WIndows Boot process, where now you have to pick a Windows XP configuration and profile, I can't do that with a Bluetooth keyboard because Windows hasn't booted up enough to recognize Bluetooth devices at that point.
I like what you are adding to the program but there are a few challenges left to resolve.
thanks for listening.

Can't get drag / drop or coherence to work
Hi..
Great feature release - congrats guys..
I feel like a knucklehead here, but I can't figure out drag and drop between XP and OSX, nor do I get any response within XP when I press the coherence button.

What am I missing here ?

Thanks!

Installed build 3036, Parallels no longer working?
After installing the new beta build, when I start up Parallels i'm greeted with a translucent "?" on top of my doc icon when trying to start up the application. Nothing else happens after that, and the updated dock icon is persistent until I restart my macbook. I'm assuming the application does nothing because Parallels is not listed in the "force quit" list.

The image seems to be fine, as i'm still able to resize/defrag it. Is there any way to get it up and running again?

Thanks!
