That was a fast fix, good work. Unfortunately for me, I still get 'Unable to open disk image Boot Camp' after 20 seconds of wait and the windows partition HD disappearing. :( |

Issues with keyboard input on 3106 So first of all, since this is my first post: I *love* your product, thank you for making it! Now, sadly, for the problem :~) I updated to 3106, and coincidentally my win2000 image that I've been using got corrupted (I don't think that's your fault, separate issue). I've been using it instead of my XP boot camp install under Parallels because, as of the latest upgrade to Parallels, XP has been needing me to re-authenticate over the phone, and it takes forever to get through on hold with MS. Anyway, with my win2k image corrupted, I had no choice, so I started up the XP boot option... Notes: 1. It popped up a message for a while that said not to do anything while Parallel Tools were updated, even though I don't think that could ever complete since I couldn't log in without authenticating. It eventually disappeared, so I didn't think much of it, until... 2. I tried typing in my serial # again, which contains a Z, but every character worked until I tried to type the Z, at which point it just wouldn't take it in. I've discoverd that the Z, A, S, L, M and N keys will not actually register in the window (go figure, that means I could *almost* put my serial # in, very maddening). No beep, no anything--it's as if I just didn't hit the key. Other keys work just fine. I've tried turning off remapping in preferences, as well as plugging in an external keyboard (on a MacBook Pro here), with no difference. Problem is, I can't activate my XP install now because I can't get my serial # in. I'm going to try creating a new 2k image now, but since this is for my work, obviously getting up and running again asap is important (I know, I know, should've made a backup of my image, sigh). Any help would be appreciated. I filed a report through Parallels Desktop, but thought this might be quicker....thanks!! |

After downloading the new Beta with Safari, the DMG package will not mount. Downloading with Firefox worked fine. Thanks for the new Beta Parallels! |

I just upgrade to this new build but when I start Parallels, I get a message that I need to uninstall Paralles tools for boot camp. But each time I boot to my windows partition I am not able to use the keyboard on my macbook pro. Is there another way I can do this uninstall? or is there a way to repair this windows boot menu using a windows disk. thanks |

Looks intresting. I love being a beta tester but -- As a new customer I have a boxed 1940 version of the application. I have recentally downloaded the 1970 version (but not this new beta apparently) and I want to know where i can find the 'version history' aka the features that are being constantly worked on and revamped. I can see several pages with 'new features' but this is all relative they could be from an earlier version or new to this specific beta... ect, can someone link me to a version history? thanks much |

Creating bootcamp partition from Parallels VM image? Hi, just download 3106. I'd been running Beta 2 as a VM within MacOS X. The DMG download went well (using foxfire), the parallels tools upgrade went well too. Now that the licensing issue has been solved I'd like to try using the same bits in bootcamp and in parallels. My question is, is there a standard / supported way to take the nice image I've built in parallels and move it to bootcamp so I can use the bits both ways? Thanks much. |

Another Mirror D/L'd direct from Parallels, but had to rename it because of problems with '%20's in the name. http://www.twoseat.com/temp/Parallels_3106.dmg -v- |

Why is my Windows XP window so small? Just updated to the new Beta from 1970 and it seems to work well, except for one problem. The XP "desktop" now seems to be surrounded by about an inch wide black border. It's like watching a non HD program on an HD channel. It's annoying because I'm running this on a MacBook with a 13" screen already, so I don't need the window to be even smaller. I'm sure it's an easy fix, but I tried making various changes and couldn't fix it. I love this product, by the way. It's let me return to the Mac - my first (computer) love. Thanks in advance, and happy New Year! Patrick P.S. I've attached a screen shot of what it looks like. |

Extra volumes Others may have worked this out already, but if you put as one of your shared folders /volumes all mounted volumes on your computer can be read! Awsome! |

Can't get BootCamp partition to work I installed XP Pro in a new BootCamp partition set up on a new Macbook Pro. The BootCamp version works fine and I've applied all the MS updates to it. Then I downloaded 3106 Beta 3 and got a trial license to do some evaluation. I created a new virtual machine, per the instructions, and set it to use the BootCamp partition. When I try to start it up, it get the message "Unable to open disk image Boot Camp" I've tried a number of times to generate a virtual machine that works but always get the same result. This is a clean installation which never had Parallels Tools installed. The Users manual that came with Beta 3 says you need to install Parallels Tools for Boot Camp (page 172) but I can't find it and the release message at the start of this thread makes it sound like that is not necessary with Beta 3. Is this correct? One other thing is that I haven't activated the BootCamp XP installation yet (I'm still playing around with Parallels and VMWare Fusion to see how I want to set this machine up and which virtualization software I want to buy). Don't know if that matters or not. Any ideas why I can't get this to work? This is the first Parallels installation I've tried on this machine. If there is anything else I can check or any further information that would help to diagnose the problem, let me know. |

I had setup XP using Fat32. I always got this error that you mentioned. I checked in /Windows/DriverCache for sp2.cab and driver.cab. They existed there. The only thing I could think of was to convert from Fat32 to NTFS. I booted up into Native Bootcamp with XP. I went to the command prompt and typed convert c: /fs:ntfs Said yes to the prompts and rebooted back into Native Bootcamp XP. The drive converted to NTFS, and then I booted back into MacOS. I ran Parallels, and it worked!! I then had a huge issue of installing the parallels tools, but that's another story. I'm still not entirely satisfied with 3106. I don't get it though. 1970 worked fine on a virtual boot file. Beta 1 worked fine with Bootcamp for me with fat32. Beta 2 worked as well. As soon as I upgraded to Beta 3, all hell broke loose. I even went as far as to Wipe out all partitions on the internal drive, and reinstall MacOSX and XP on Bootcamp. I installed 3106 from scratch, and nothing but problems. It seems that 3106 does not like Fat32 at all. |

Parallels Tools auto-upgrade failed I installed the new beta and booted XP; it offered to upgrade Parallels Tools, and I clicked OK. In the middle of the upgrade, Parallels crashed. However, when I rebooted XP again and clicked Cancel on the upgrade dialog, I was able to manually uninstall Parallels Tools, reboot, and manually install the new version without any hitches. Coherence works on my second monitor now (hooray!) but hotsyncing my Treo 650 is still a no-go (XP sees the USB device but the Hotsync Manager never fires up.) |
