1440x900 in Debian Linux
I've read the fine manual, searched the forums, and can't find a way to make this work.

I have Debian Sarge installed and working in 800x600
I have 1440x900 set as a custom resolution in the VM
I editted XFree86-4 to add the modeline and screen resolutions as suggested in the documentation.

I installed ddcprobe, and get this:
vbe: VESA 3.0 detected.
oem: Virtual VESA BIOS Extension
vendor: Parallels Software International, Inc.
product: Virtual Video Adapter 01.03
memory: 16384kb
mode: 640x400x256
mode: 640x480x256
mode: 800x600x256
mode: 1024x768x256
mode: 1280x1024x256
mode: 640x480x32k
mode: 640x480x64k
mode: 640x480x16m

mode: 1280x1024x16m
mode: 1600x1200x32k
mode: 1600x1200x64k
noedid

I can't get the desktop bigger than 800x600. Suggestions?

Linux will try the first resolution listed in the default color depth. If your applicable screen section says
Code:
"800x600" "1440x900"
you will always get 800x600. Swap the two, and 1440x900 should work.

I have not been able to switch resolution on the fly with Ctrl+Alt++/- yet.
