Internal build 1908 for Mac Pro and iMac Core 2 Duo - Mac RAM is unlimited Hello guys, We are on the way to deliver a Parallels Desktop for Mac version that supports Mac Pro and iMac Core 2 Duo without RAM limitation. There's an internal build that is available for early testing which can be downloaded from here. Please don't forget to backup any sensitive data on your Mac before proceeding to evaluation. This version does not limit Mac Pro and iMac Core 2 Duo RAM amount and removes the limitation set by previous update. Please don't forget to restart your Mac after installing this update and ensure that RAM reverts to its original amount. As usual, we're extremely interested in your feedback about this build and any issues you might face. Best regards, Tim |

As a quick note, before I actually start (I've installed), my first boot after install hung during the kext load part (pre-loginwindow). As you can see here (from my system.log), the last loaded item was Parallels: Code:

OK -- just tried my "last" test. I launched a (clone of) an existing XP VM. And, the same crash, basically, looks like when it switches from text to graphics mode or something. I know you guys must have tested this a little, but it really seems pretty broken. Here's the crash log: Code:

Hi, I'm having similar crashes on starting of VM - was fine the very first time I tried after upgrading. I've just rebooted MacPro and VM started up fine.... |

dnanian, Could you try to remove all devices from VM config save HDD and CD and try it again? PS: Does anyone else has the same behavior as dnanian? __________________ Best Regards, Andrew @ Parallels |

Mine still locks up just as before. I actually got through the Windows installation this time, but it just froze up my computer. This time, actually, it locked it so hard that my mouse didn't even move. It just froze my computer completely. I force rebooted and then pressed the green arrow again and it automatically freezes the computer yet again. This is the exact same problem as before. I don't know which log to show you. I do not have a panic log. I didn't have a kernel panic just my computer froze up. Anything I should show you? Andrew, I'd just like to say that the software itself is unstable. Once it freezes my computer even if I try a new installation and disable all the hardware like floppy, ethernet etc, it freezes before it can even start installing Windows XP. Something's really not meshing with the software and the Mac Pro or OS X. Any tips? |

I'm havng the same problem as dnanian. 1st with an existing xp vm and then with a new install of xp, it finished the 1st part of the install and on rebooting xp to continue the install it crashes. Removed everything but hd and cd and it still does the same thing.

Andrew, I've found if I delete the *.pvs file and recreate the vm using the original hd's and all other hardware it needs, it WILL boot and run just fine. That is until you reboot it or shut it down and restart it, it then crashes. I've done this 7 times and it will boot and run each 1st time you use it and fail on reboot or shutdown and restart. Hope this helps a little. If you need more info, let me know. __________________ if you're gonna live on the razors edge, you have to be willing to bleed a little.... I'm fixed I am 100% working okay now with 1908 installed. I don't even have to sleep my computer first anymore; or at least there is no warning about it. Thank you! Rob |

Mine was crashing every time (tried 3 or 4 times) after I put it to sleep then awoke it. I just tried it again after an hour or so and it booted fine and is working fine. I didn't change anything that I can tell. It's getting close. |

Thank God you made changes to the memory limit. It was completely clogging my computer before for some reasono. Now it is a smooth ride. :) For me everything runs smoothly, except sometime for some reason my desktop wallpapet (I put one of my own) goes black. Then when I clicked on the start button it came back. On the previous built, it even deleted the desktop wallpaper completely for some reason!?!?! Other than that, I have no problems for now. |
