Has anybody tried installing the new Windows Tech Preview on Parallels 10? When I run the setup, it tells me it can't find any drivers for the HDD. Can't install. Any news how to go about installing it?
Thanks! I will try it now. Yup this seems to have worked. Installing the Tech Preview now. Thank! IDK why I didn't even think of that.
Did you use the base vm config with 1 GB of RAM, 2 Cores and 64GB of HD space? That is what I did and I am up and running now.
Did you get Parallels tools installed? After I installed it using Other Windows, parallels tools dont show up.
I started by installing a copy of Windows 7 that I had lying around. I installed that, installed Parallels Tools, and then I mounted the Tech Preview ISO from Windows 7 and double-clicked the Setup from the ISO. Windows Tech Preview installed and ran fine. Sounds like the "Other Windows" option above might be a bit quicker though, since you don't have to go through 2 installations.
For parallels tools, I suggest manually installing: http://kb.parallels.com/112609 Manually installing works great, and all features are supported.
I don't have a DVD drive at work, so I've tried installing from a .ISO image, and also using bootable USB (build with the Window 7 USB download tool). Parallels doesn't recognize either of these, even using "Other Windows". Any suggestions?
Sounds like you got a bad ISO like the user below you. Always compared the MD5 hashes! If you set up with default settings as 'Other Windows' everything should work 100%. Then install manually parallels tools and you should be in business!
I did get Parallels Tools installed by manually mounting the iso from the OS X parallels.app/.../tools folder. But my Windows desktop has all of my Mac desktop stuff on it. How do I get rid of that?
Solution to installing Windows Technical Preview 64bit (not tested on 32bit) Install Windows Technical Preview as Other Windows (as suggested) -> Once installed Shut Down and navigate to Virtual Machine Settings -> Change Virtual Machine type from Other Windows to Windows 8.1 -> Restart Virtual Machine -> Install Parallels Tools Viola
