I have the same 'no connectivity' issue with my MacBook Air. I was having the crashing issues and the new version fixed that but it broken the connectivity (i.e. it was working before the update).

Here is the output of the commands that are being requested.

    Same Problem - Sort of

I'm running Parallels 5184 on a Mac Pro. OSX 10.5.2. Almost every time I have to restart the Mac Pro for whatever reason - usually a software update - the Parallels Network adapters (NAT and Guest) come up with self assigned IP's. I've tried turning off the IPv4 configuration then setting it back to "using DHCP" It still comes back up as self assigned IP. I've tried this with IPv6 set to automatic and off. That seems to have no effect. If I just restart the Mac Pro it will come back up with the Parallels adapters working correctly. I'm not running any network software except the standard Mac setup. This computer is connected to an always on hardwired internet connection. Seems strange that the Parallels adapters come up empty on the first restart but then are ok if I restart again. I've done the uninstall Parallels / reinstall Parallels with and without all the sudo stuff. Doesn't seem to make any difference.

It seems the programming for these adapters is unstable as evidenced by all the other posters in this thread. I keep checking every few days, hoping in vain that Parallels has released an update fixing this problem.

    Hello all,

I am sorry for being away for long. Thank you for the data provided.

Uptickdk, please reinstall Parallels this way:

    a. Go to Finder - Applications - Utilities - Terminal.

    b. Type and run the following commands:

    • sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/vmmain.kext
    • sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/hypervisor.kext
    • sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/Pvsvnic.kext
    • sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/ConnectUSB.kext
    • sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/Pvsnet.kext
    • sudo rm -rf /Library/Parallels/
    • sudo rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.parallels.*

Before you run these commands, please make sure that your VM hdd and pvs files are NOT stored in ~/Library/Parallels.

    c. Reboot your Mac and reinstall Parallels.

Clo2peter, your ifconfig shows that airport does not get IP address. I can not tell you why and this is most likely not Parallels issue. Please check your network settings.

Dwebb66, IP addresses on Windows side seem to have been changed manually. Please restore the default settings: go to Control Panel -> Network Connections -> right click Local Area Connections -> Properties -> double click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) -> enable "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically".

    Jwjohnson99, please update to 5584.

    Best regards,
    Xenos

    Zenos,

I already have 5584 installed. My mistake when I posted the build number. What now?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

    Having this problem as well

Parallels was working fine until I updated the latest firmware patch from Apple this morning. After that, I can't get shared networking to work anymore. Bridged networking works still, but that doesn't really help me since I need bridged networking to use my VPN.

I suspect something in the firmware update either changed an API that parallels was reliant upon, or decided to reset some config data that is foxing parallels at the moment.

I'm at a loss as to what though.

    Hi Xenos,
Per your advice, this is what i am presently doing:
OK i did this and after each except the last 2 I get '...is a directory' is this correct?
I have made a copy of my xp folder in the library or do i keep just the HDD and PVs files?

I have an install disk of v2 and purchased an upgrade to v3 should i reinstall in this order?

    thanks,

    Hello,

    Clo2peter, thanks for the news.

Jeff and Patrick, please reinstall Parallels. Use the Terminal commands to be sure the uninstall is complete.

Bowbot and all, try adding -rm to each command:

    sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/vmmain.kext
    etc.

You do not have to install the version 2.0 before 3.0. Start right from 3.0.

    Best regards,
    Xenos

Xenos, I am having the same issue, but only when connecting trough the MacBook Air's wireless connection. The USB Ethernet is working when I am connected at the office. However, this defeats the purpose as I want to use the MacBook Air when I am away from the office and my Office machine what at the office.

Can you please give me some ideas on what to try? I have done the full uninstall including the terminal commands.

    Hello Dwebb66,

Please let me see the ifconfig and ipconfig /all outputs.

    Xenos,
-rm was in the original solution you send me. I have tried this twice with no change ie I still must revert to a snapshot to regain connectivity after rebooting parallels or windows within parallels.

    What's next?

    Internet connection

I am having the issue with no connectivity via LAN on the VM- after it had worked for months. I went through many, many posts and tried the various suggestions, but I'm getting no where. In fact, the VM now is running so slow that I am afraid I made something worse. Since support always asks for ipconfig, I tried to do that on the VM, but the black window pops up with nothing in it and disappears right away.
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I'm ready to throw this program out the window.
I also saw posts about uninstalling Parallels tools, which I have tried to do a few times, but it freezes up each time and I am not able to uninstall.
    I am so frustrated
    Thanks!!

I had the "no adapter" error. Turns out that my ethernet connection was on port 2 when I configured Parallels, and so it was NATed to that. Recently, I had switched the cable to port 1, and that's when Parallels couldn't find the connection. Shut down, switched cable, rebooted, restarted Parallels - worked fine.

Not the solution for everyone, but simple to check for those with more than one port.

In configuration for Network Adapter try to set default, or that connected adapter
