My XP and Vista are working so well in 5582, I feel I need a new challenge!

Anyone tried Vista SP1 or XP SP3 in Parallels?

I would be pretty interested in a faster Vista if it is and works.

XP SP3 appears to not work at all as a bootcamp VM.

    Continual loop of restart>BSOD.

    Vista SP1 does not work!
It crashes when trying to start the VM. Then booting into Vista via BootCamp, the installation appears to be damaged. MS Genuine Advantage says it has been tampered with and you need to clean the installation by starting up in Safe Mode and then reenter your licence key when you start up again.
My advise is to stay off this until the SP1 is final and that Parallels have sorted things out.

    XP SP3 Works For Me...

Just re-set-up my Boot Camp with Windows XP Pro SP3 (3282), works fine. Mapped it as a new Parallels VM (using Boot Camp option) with Parallels 3.0 5584, and it's working fine as well. Had to do these two things first, though:

    http://kb.parallels.com/entry/31/286/0/
    http://kb.parallels.com/entry/27/472/0/

...however, either / both of those may have been unrelated to the fact that it was SP3 (though the first one might be part of the issue, since an "SP3.cab" file was there but not "SP2.cab" -- I duplicated "driver.cab" and renamed it "SP2.cab" as the article suggests).

    I'm running a 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook with 2GB RAM under 10.5.1.

Now, this is how I got XP SP3 installed and working:

    0) I have XP on a 'Boot Camp' partition, and not in an image file. If you
have the VM in an image file, the rest of this won't make any sense at all.

    1) Boot the machine to XP on the Boot Camp partition.

    2) Install Boot Camp 2.1 from Apple. The URL is:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/bootcampupdate21forwindowsxp.html
This is essential *before* installing SP3.

    2a) Reboot.

    3) Install SP3. I downloaded the full install from Microsoft.

    3a) Reboot.

    4) Select your OS X partition as your Startup Disk and

    4a) Reboot.

    5) Once OS X boots and you are logged in, start Parallels, but *DO NOT*
    start the VM!

    6) Open your VM configuration, and select 'Hard Disk -> Advanced'

    7) Click on the "Clear..." button under the "Cleanup Boot Camp partition"
section. This allows Parallels to 'learn' about the changes made by the SP3
    install.

    8) Start your VM.

    9) Once the VM is started and logged in, *RE-INSTALL* the Parallels Tools!

    9a) Reboot the VM.

The issue is with Boot Camp installations of the virtual machine.
