unable to access the virtual hard disk

Parallels Desktop is unable to access the virtual hard disk image file /Users/AC/Library/Parallels/winxp.1/winxp.1.hdd. The file is used by other application.

this after a crash.... tried creating a new vm but get the same... is all lost?
