Lets get this out of the way-I am a noob to Macs.

Just installed Parallels and have Windows XP installed. None of the discs that I put in my DVD drive show up in Windows. Everything looks fine in Leopard. When I go to My Computer in XP the drive is visable but it does not show that there is a disc in the drive. I can double click the drive and I get a message back to put a disc in the drive. What have I done wrong and more importantly what can I do to fix this? Thnx for helping out a noob.

    Hello,

please open 'Configuration Editor' of your VM (in menubar 'Edit' -> 'Virtual Machine'), select 'CD/DVD-Rom' tab and check 'Use CD/DVD-Rom'.

    Best regards,
    Stacey

    Didn't solve the problem

Mine is already selected so this didn't solve my problem. I get the warning "unable to open device/file MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-85J" every time that I open XP. What can I do to correct this? Thanks.

Try to remove it from Windows Xp, stop VM, remove CD/DVD, start VM, reinstall Parallels Tools, stop VM, add CD/DVD back, - make sure that there is no CD in CD/DVD formated in HFS
