I am using a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2. Parallels 3.0, windows XP, this is used solely to run Timeslips 7.0. Parallels 2.0 worked for us for over a year. Then in January we lost the ability to print or access the LAN. The mac worked perfectly on the OS 10.4.11 side. The printer is a Savin 2522 PS, it works perfectly on Mac side. I paid for support and spent over 2 hours on the telephone with tech support at parallels. The gentleman was very nice but to no avail. He said he was moving me up a level. About three days later I received an e-mail from the same tech with more suggestions, which did not work. After one or two more e-mails, with response time varying from 24 hours to 10 days, I was out of the office for about 3 weeks. So now it is the end of February, we are printing bills by creating PDF files and dragging them to the Mac side. I contact tech support and my session is cancelled. After 1.2 hour I finally convince customer service to reinstate my support request. I was told to upload the .hdd file by ftp. Well, not Parallels problem, but apple's ftp support is poor. So I could not do that until I had access to windows computer from which to upload, by that time support request was cancelled again. I have now upgraded to Parallels 3.0(test). That did not solve the problem, but reinstalling Windows XP and not doing any upgrades allowed me to access the LAN. The printer is still not visible. The drivers appear to have been picked up by the windows upgrade. I tried the directions on this forum and the directions in the index (which are different and no luck). When I run the wizard as it directs I select the local printer (but not plug and play) per wizard instructions, the wizard then asks for port, I have tried IP_192.198.1.99 (Standard TCP/IP Port) and Savin_2522_PS (Standard TCP/IP Port). I suspect the settings are wrong on one of these. Also the DHCP scope is set for 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254. Hopefully someone can help. I would try reinstalling drivers, but when a I download from Savin site I can't figure out what to do.
I can suggest you to test Shared Printer, please see details in Parallels Desktop for Mac user guide from http://www.parallels.com/en/download/file/doc/Parallels_Desktop_for_Mac_User_Guide.pdf on page 135
Bad news. Yes the savin 2522 will print. When I send a print request from Timeslips 2007 I get one blank page for each two printed pages and one or more pages with the following printed on them: ERROR: undefined OFFENDING COMMAND: STACK:
more info I did some more tinkering around and found the Apple Driver recommended in the guide would work without error with the networked Savin. It also works with the HP3015 USB. I have the same problem as others that the VM prints to the default printer in the Mac OS.
ethernet No it is set to shared networking per the instructions on p. 135 of the guide. Since we can print I am not willing to change any settings.
